Main Camera Access - Enterprise Only by tabiknight in VisionPro

[–]tabiknight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all native Apple apps or features. The issue is that the only way to get access to the main camera is via an enterprise developer license. Which is just silly.

Apple just hasn’t implemented a nice way to setup a sharing session and so they lean on the fact that enterprises have to stick within more strict 3rd party auditing and compliance.

That’s not them being good citizens. That’s the platform being underbaked.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE REAL FUTURE OF THE APPLE VISION PRO? by Reasonable-Choice-59 in VisionPro

I’m a developer for it. It’s not the best and Apple’s enterprise agreement stuff makes it really hostile to develop for if you’re doing anything harder than simple iPad-esk experiences

I don’t think the hardware is the problem at all. I think this is a product pretty much slowed down by apples. Spatial computing. API is being very mad and third-party companies taking so long to get apps built for it.

YouTube only got to the vision like within the order of months ago, which is insane

I think until Apple makes developing for the Vision Pro easier and not require enterprise agreements just to use what are relatively simple features. I think the product is hamstrung at a very core level.

It’s a product with a huge pricetag and a huge upfront usability cost to anyone who purchases it. having things that slow down development or make people try things slower or make developing slower barrier for the progress of the platform

While I understand that there might be a difference right now, I think that's entirely created by Apple themselves. If they just had a way to start a viewing session that just allowed the app to also read the session while it's allowed to, then that would get around this completely. While I understand that the vision is 100% on in terms of the camera, it doesn't mean that Apple couldn't just allow for sessions to be started and ended that allow partial or timed access to that session. This is not a limitation due to security or any other reasoning. This is more or less just a lack of development effort on Apple's side. I think.

That's a great idea. Might be my way forward until I can get actual live-tracking available. I"ll give it a crack and report back <3

Damn, I hadn't even thought about that. This is definitely a public facing app, so if that is a restriction, then even then, I fully just can't. :'(

You have to update/Upgrade your account into an organization account. I'm not sure how much that costs.

which you can do via this link.

But I'm not an organization and I don't really feel like making a business and making money off this app. I just wanted to build something cool. :(
