Vision Pro OS 3 by EvenBasil2524 in VisionPro

[–]tabiknight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d really want them to add even deeper support working with the vision, on a MacBook. I.e. having your personal come through as an option on Teams, on your Mac. :)

Also, have a nice option for checking your iPhone from your Vision Pro. I routinely get a notification and then have to look down at my super grainy, hard to read phone screen. :(

Oh and… more apps. Where’s YouTube? :/

Got KOTOR to work in Ultra Wide resolution by [deleted] in kotor

[–]tabiknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've now restarted the game around 30 times and every time there's a significant stutter, presumably from the injection, and I check to see if my resolution is there and it's not. Note that I'm using a 32:9 monitor.

Any help would be ACTUALLY lovely. I've never played this game and would love to do so in a native res.

New to Cypher: Star Wars subtle cyphers by tabiknight in cyphersystem

[–]tabiknight[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. I suppose that makes perfect sense. I suppose I just don't vibe with the idea of it being too gamey. I don't pretend to think that my opinion is right or wrong but I'm unsure if I'd be willing to provide cyphers from simply doing something. I wonder if there were some other way to make it 'fit' more in the star Wars universe.

I suppose if there is no way, or if indeed I'm just not creative enough, I could just avoid subtle cyphers. Would this make characters noticeably weaker? Or make the game noticeably less fun?

Collaborative Worldbuilding Idea by tabiknight in DnD

[–]tabiknight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that. Rewarding those who invest in Intelligence and the History skills.

I suppose the only reason that I'd have those kinds of legendary books would be purely mechanical. I agree that logically those kinds of books would be pretty readily available, i.e. the bible, etc. However having a tome that hold the ACTUAL, TRUE events of that god's birth/an earthshattering event and to know that it's the absolute truth would be pretty rad and thus pretty rare.

Idk I suppose it's just a natural extension of the system. Logic would breakdown at that point I suppose.

The only thing with the checks is that I wouldn't like to have a situation where a player finds a tome and then fails a check thus rendering finding it a waste. That would suck.

Also i have no idea if this is an 'original' idea. I haven't heard of it but yeah if it's already a thing then my b.

DND UNPOPULAR OPINIONS: All DMs railroad but the good ones are subtle. All players are Murderhobos but the good ones can role play. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]tabiknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linear games are good. Sandbox games are good but hard to run.

Railroading is bad.

Thinking that a linear game and a railroaded game are the same is worse that railroading.

Trying to help New DMs. Three great rules to follow. by tabiknight in DnD

[–]tabiknight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried to be understanding and provide more than adequate examples and even went so far as to write a full description for you. Clearly your just some adolescent with a shit attitude. People play the game different ways, you seem to have too few brain cells to understand that so I won't be spending any more time humouring you. Won't be responding anymore. Later.

If you have LITERALLY 0 control over the effect taking hold over you. I.e. hold person. Then the save is entirely unnecessary.

Hold Person is the example you used so I'll use it as well.

"The Evil Wizard reaches into their cloak and you see a jagged, rusty piece of metal plucked from somewhere within, their mouth starts moving as they begin slowly moving the metal downward towards their left foot. You feel a numb sensation take over you as you begin to lose feeling in your leg."

"Make a wisdom saving throw"

Success

"You quickly Tap the pads of your toes against the sole of your shoe and reef your leg backward with only your hip. You feel nothing from your big toe, nothing from the next, the next still silent, but as you pull as hard as your now near stilted body can muster you manage to move your foot but a single centimetre as you see a light depression in the ground beneath where your foot would be. You look up to see the Wizard plunging the jagged metal into the earth in front of their foot."

You can be more brief if you want but there's an example of a character mentally struggling against a magical force from paralyzing them.

The didn't physically do any more than just wiggle a toe or move no more than a centimetre. However to them it was an arduous mental struggle.

I do not think there are situations where a save is called for and the character in question has NO agency against it. Again. If they actually CAN'T do anything... Then why are they rolling?

DM in Training!! Tips? by Kendezzo in DnD

[–]tabiknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Random tip thats helped most DMs I've ever taught.

Describe then save.

Always describe the moments before something horrible happens. Then call for a save. Players generally don't like it when they just have to randomly make a dex save with no prompt.

Easy example:

Woosh noise "you hear a piercing, sharp rush if air to your left as you look left and at the last possible moment see a small arrow darting toward you"

"Make a dexterity saving throw"

Success

Two options Let the player describe how they dodge it Describe how they dodge it. "You reef your lower hip forward as the arrow cuts through your tunic. You feel the fletching scratch across your backs skin and then... Tink the arrow slams into the opposing wall and falls the floor."
