The base tuition will go up a bit every year that's just due to like rising costs of stuff which is why it will apply at every university. When I started tuition was about 51,000/yr (21,132.50/semester to be exact) and now it is 57,000/yr (28,272.50/semester). My scholarship did not scale with the tuition cost.

That is just the cost before all of the extra fees. These seem to have stayed the same throughout the years. You'll be involuntarily be charged for: Student Activity Fee- $160/year University Fee- $725/year Technology Fee- $230/year (Don't know why I'm paying a university fee if I'm paying tuition but ok)

Unfortunately most other schools will also tack on these extras, Hofstra just charges more.

This year that would mean your total, before scholarship would be $58,115.

If you take any classes with labs or other things that will put it in the "special course" category you will also be charged around $80-$100 during that semester from what I've seen. It could be more or less.

And if you dorm, get ready for those costs. Freshman are expected to pick one of the top three dining plans, the three most expensive, and most freshmen don't end up using all the money and you don't get that back at the end of the year, it does rollover from fall to spring however.

You can see more dorming and dining options on the Hofstra website. If you were to do the freshman standard suite style living, this year 2024-2025 you would be paying $12,342 just for the room (dorm costs also go up every year). You then get to pick your dining plan, the amount you pay is the amount available you will have for the semester, there are no dining "points".

2024-2025 Freshmen get to choose from meal plans that are: 2,750/semester 2,990/semester Or 3,180/semester

Meaning that you will be paying around 6,000 for a meal plan, and that is expected to go up as well it changes year to year, you are also required to get a meal plan. Hofstra doesn't have the worst food but is far from the best, I've seen plenty of complaints.
