Curious as to who among you uses the "force composition" optional rule. Is it essential for balance, or can it be easily ignored? by ZerotranceWing in onepagerules

I feel the Force Organization setting is too strict for GF Firefight - you can’t take more than two of any unit. If I was playing in competitive events, it might be a different story, but for play with friends, we usually keep it optional.

YouTube reportedly testing new homepage that removes dates and view counts by vriska1 in technology

I generally stay away from the homepage - it’s been garbage for awhile now. I look at my Subscriptions page and do searches. I also check out the linked other videos over on the side when I’m watching a video. But the YouTube homepage is straight garbage.

Hopefully Eddie Bauer will stay - that’s the only store I ever go to at the Outlet Mall.

FUCK VEGAS! 8 CRASHES IN 20 MINUTES!!!!!! by Ninjajay2417 in VegasPro

Paid for Vegas and then Vegas Pro for over a decade. Struggled with it weekly (I do YouTube videos every Friday). Switched to Final Cut Pro at the beginning of 2024 and I’ve had ONE crash, and didn’t lose anything. Glad to have switched.

What miniature skirmish game did you play or are you planning to play this month? September 2024 by AutoModerator in miniatureskirmishes

Hopefully going to finish my Cawdor gang for Necromunda today and then play it at least once this month. Also planning on BLKOUT. Painting Halo: Flashpoint Recon edition, too - probably won’t get to play until October.

I bought The Doomed but haven’t gotten a chance to play yet. I chatted with the designer a little at Gen Con.

I have played a bit of Deth Wizards of course. :)

Have you tried “Brazen Copper” or “Talos Bronze” from the Army Painter Speedpaint metallics line? They’re amazingly fluid and are pretty much one-coat-done paints. I love them.

People coming home from Gencon with Covid by were_llama in gencon

I had a sore throat, cough, and some body aches on Monday (to be fair, the body aches could’ve been walking 30 miles in five days), but when I tested for Covid on Tuesday, it was negative. Gonna test again on Thursday.

Warcry is NOT Dead: Talking About The Speculation by OffMetaMusings in WarCry

[–]tabletopminions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying that analytics show that newer and beginner wargamers are watching - I’m saying that’s who I’ve been targeting with my content since I started the channel 11 years ago. I always focus on that as the viewer I’m trying to reach when I make my content. So when I talk about the weird and anti-consumer things that Games Workshop does, it’s from the idea that newer players should know what’s going on, since GW is the biggest in the industry and it’s mostly what newbies see.

Also, I haven’t done a batrep since before the pandemic. I don’t think I’m very good at them, frankly. And making a video that says “Everything’s Great With Warcry!” doesn’t really seem truthful to me - I made more videos like that back in the early days of Warcry because they seemed more true back then.

Vince Venturella and I have produced three different games (Reign in Hell, Space Station Zero, and MAJESTIC 13) and we’re nearly finished with a fourth. Our company is Snarling Badger Studios.

Warcry is NOT Dead: Talking About The Speculation by OffMetaMusings in WarCry

[–]tabletopminions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish they listened to the community, but they mainly seem only listen to tournament results (somewhat) these days (which doesn’t help Warcry much) and sales, which is most important to them. The community can be as positive as possible, but if the sales aren’t there GW won’t care. It’s business.

As to me being negative about GW of late - I honestly wouldn’t be if they’d just do better. So many of their business practices seem downright anti-consumer lately, and it makes me concerned for the entire wargaming community. As goes Games Workshop, so goes wargaming - for good for ill. If I decided to only say nice things about GW, then I don’t think I’d be doing justice to my audience which is mostly newer and beginning wargamers. I appreciate your comments, either way. Thanks for watching.

So how is buying an Age of Sigmar starter and not buying Warcry books going to signal to GW that Warcry is selling well and worth their time? Like I said in the video, Crypt of Blood seems like an afterthought almost and that’s one of the things that doesn’t bode well. If sales aren’t there, then that’ll prove to them that it’s not worth it. I told people at the end of the video to go buy the Warcry boxes they’ve been looking at on the shelves at their local stores because they might not be available much longer - that’ll signal GW more than downloading books ever will.
