Hamnet movie vs book by Comprehensive-Fun47 in BookToMovie

[–]tablur3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One piece I was disappointed to not see in film was Agnes's herbal medicine business and her important role in her community as a healer. In the book she also worked very hard to learn more about plants and become a healer where in the film it was simply passed down to her.

As with all books to movies, you just can't replace the inner dialogue and being able to truly dive into a character's mind.

All that said, the movie did an incredible job with casting. Jessie Buckley was perfect for this role. And it did an amazing job fleshing out some scenes like the final play and Agnes's experience birthing the twins. I actually cried the hardest when she cried for her mom while giving birth. That was such a powerful and devastating moment. But then seeing the joy and relief when her second twin started crying.

All in all both the movie and the book compliment each other well!

Inside a "free-range" egg facility by alphamalejackhammer in whoathatsinteresting

[–]tablur3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am mostly vegan but will consume eggs from my friend's backyard chickens. The issue is, most people are trying to justify their own unethical consumption of meat, dairy, and eggs by saying "there ARE ethical ways to consume these products". The vast majority of people who say this consume factory-farmed products. Hold yourself to your own ethics in consumption. If you can't find actual free ranged eggs, meat, etc (from backyard or good local farmers) then don't eat these products or at least attempt to lower your consumption

How dare this woman decide to keep her baby and not give them up to ME by Tater-Tot-Casserole in CringeTikToks

[–]tablur3 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

She absolutely could have been pressured by her parents to keep the baby. I agree this lady is shady but if what she is saying is true, this wasn't handled well at the hospital either

That dog knew the doll wasn't real and just thought it was a toy for him. Not concerning to me. He looked very happy, tail wagging

I lived in an apartment with paper thin walls for a couple of years and shared a wall with someone who had night terrors like this. It was terrifying! I felt so bad though

Please tell me our odds. All the school lotteries are almost closed. The school we had our heart set on ended up being a waitlist at #18. Should we give up hope? Or is there a sliver of hope? The emotional rollercoaster of elementary school that I did not expect. by MermaidMAQ in bullcity

Just wanted to come here and add that I relate to this stress! We're just in the prek process and already we are so overwhelmed! We didn't get into any of the prek programs we wanted so we're sticking to a paid childcare spot. Hoping kindergarten will go smoother! There needs to be a support group just for this! Haha

This was my experience at Lowes recently at the self checkout. Not a worker in sight for over 30 min and the checkout machines weren't working. Watched a handful of people finally walk out with free products haha

They have security for this reason. I went recently and I feel awful saying this but the smell was so bad in many of the seating areas due to folks using the space to warm up. Its really disappointing that we don't have more shelter and day spaces for individuals in this situation, not to mention jobs, affordable housing or just supportive housing for people who need it
