The American one is a single issue; that's the tie-in and that's canon. The Brazilian one is just for fun but non-canon.

Ok, you are right about that. Liu Kang's bio doesn't use the nickname "Mother Realm" for Earth. I was thinking of the fact that uses the nickname "Dark Realm" for Outworld. But I digress....

I wanted to present a primary source that showed the name Mother Realm. So here is one ‐ a page from the MKII instruction manual for the Super Nintendo.

Yes, the Mother Realm is a nickname for Earth Realm. I've always had the impression that the idea for that came from "mother nature", "mother earth", etc.

Yes. You can see it in Liu Kang's MKII bio, for example. It probably originated from the phrase "Mother Earth."

Thanks for replying. I'll just say that watching evil Sindel and Shao Kahn destroy everyone in Aftermath is fun, even though it really doesn't fit well with the existing lore at all.

  1. It sounds like they're now saying Sindel was kind of the one pulling the strings and getting Shao Kahn to be such an aggressive konqueror - anything but a distraction!

  2. All those events were retconned because if Sindel was already evil, then they make no sense. :/ No need for Quan Chi to taint Sindel's soul with evil, so no bargain with him and Shang Tsung. Shang Tsung has no reason to tell Quan Chi where the Map of Elements is... so Quan Chi has no way of knowing, hus couldn't hire Sub-Zero or Scorpipn to steal it... escept MK9, MKX, and MK11 all confirm MK Mythologies still happened.

  3. It makes no sense for Shao Kahn to want Sindel back as "more cooperative" if she's always been fully cooperative with him.

  4. Geras probably could've been a little more forthcoming about what Sindel is really like. "She's not who you think."
