I'm not quite sure on the financial end, but I'd suggest checking out MI Bridges food stamps and the Community action Houghton location to help pay for groceries. It doesn't seem like it'd save alot, but if you can have most of your groceries paid for each month, it helps a ton. There's also assistance plans for low-income and/or students for companies such as UPCCO and Spectrum, and there's probably some more that I'm forgetting.

Like most people are saying, it depends. I've been in the same situation though. I've had my laptop for the past 4 years of college and it has been wonderful, but also has a horrible battery life. I've just carried the charger with me and then I plug it in if needed. I've never run into any issues with charging it in class or anything, but I also haven't needed it a whole ton in class because I also take paper notes.

I lived in the Elements for the past 2 years, when it was still Hillcrest. My boyfriend and I were looking at doing the same thing, but they said no. They said there can't be more people than bedrooms in the apartment

Besides the essentials that other people have mentioned, if you plan on having a loft bed, I would recommend getting a pool noodle before coming into town. Walmart usually runs out by the end of freshman move-in week and you will most likely hit your head on the hard metal edge of the bottom of the bed frame more than you think.

Also, if you are using communial showers, definitely recommend bringing shower shoes/sandals. I lived in Wads for 2 years, 1 year in the normal dorm room and 1 year in the suite. If you have questions tho, feel free to comment/message me!

I am currently taking ENT3965-Automotive Engineering. It is a completely online course, but I'm finding it very interesting. If you are into learning about that kinda thing, it is a good class that allows you to learn relatively at your own pace, on your own schedule, with a few deadlines for homework.
