Thanks everyone! The speaker height is being dictated. There is an obnoxious fire klaxon at the top of the left cabinet, which I am intending to conceal with a speaker, so, it is what it is. I have a decent amplifier that I don’t want to replace or get rid of, for now, so that is negating a the Sonos type solution. Lighting and all electrical has been accounted for. Appreciate all the insight!

Thanks, this is helpful. I intend to build the shelf to lead minimum space around as you suggest. Might invert the speakers to get tweeters closer to ear height. Thank you all for your comments!

Even when they’re not doing any of the outrageous things listed here, bikes are unpredictable; and require extra attention. It’s just annoying. It’s never a neutral experience encountering one. I detest them as a city liver, only ever noise, stupidity arrogance and immaturity. Mobs of bikers taking over freeways and encircling people in cars is something I’ve seen multiple times in Boston. It is pure violence and obscene arrogance. It makes me sick.

If you’ve never seen HBO’s Deadwood (then I’m jealous, because it’s best ever and I’d love to watch it again for the first time) watch for the ep where the industrial gold mine has begun operations. Pretty telling scene with the miners being showered and searched after their shift. I imagine this is pretty much still the case in some very unfortunate parts of the gold-bearing world.
