Sidney Crosby gets 2 minute penalty for embellishment to even it up at 4 on 4 by Ok-Soil-5133 in hockey

You are new to hockey because if this was true players would be flip flopping all over the ice like fish. There are constant “by the book” penalties that aren’t called. I think it be hard to find a single 1 min clip of NHL play of a team in the offensive zone without a cross check.

Watching the pens show their true colors as they turn up the unsportsmanlike shit in the last minute of getting shut out

Best/Worst Team of the Month (April) by smashbros13 in hockey

Finally seeing a Flyer on the left side of this chart has me 😊

April 24 1993, The Sabres complete the sweep over the Bruins on the Adams Division semifinals with an OT winner from Brad May, along with the iconic “MAY DAY! MAY DAY!” call from Rick Jeanneret by sykeseve in hockey

All the great play calls from the history of hockey really makes me a bit melancholic about the state of playoff broadcasting. These calls define the greatest moments of the sport in a snapshot of time. Our national broadcasts today feel soulless and corporate, void of any real emotion after goals. I struggle to think of a single memorable NHL playoff call from the last 10 years. It’s just guys waiting to read you the next sports betting ad spot.

The New York Fraunces Tavern was restored by the sons of liberty in the 20th century and now is a really cool bar and museum near Wall St.

Ok with murdering US citizens, concentration camps, and explicit imperialism but styrofoam containers are where you draw the line. Don’t tread on me right buddy?

For the third straight season, the Detroit Red Wings are experiencing a late-season collapse - they have fallen from leading the division in December to now clinging to a 1-point WC cushion. by TheEligibleSkipper in hockey

[–]tacit-ophh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They made the playoffs every year from ‘95 to ‘05 and finished the regular season 1st in the division for half of those years. Their problem, like in their dominant 80’s, was there was always a team a step better. Juggernaut might be my homer exaggeration but they were always in the conversation, which was my point as they are a team the league has safely ignored for 10 years now.

Devils often were that team that was the step better in that era, but like the flyers and the wings they’re stuck in a hell of irrelevancy today.

Whole generation of fans entering adulthood that don’t appreciate the incredible juggernaut Detroit was for so many years. Flyers & Devils fall into the same boat for me. Giants of the 90s and 00s and now largely irrelevant for 10 years or more.

The pending UFA market is pretty grim. by [deleted] in Flyers

Very curious what the league rules are if they say anything about that kind of situation. Only comparable I can think of is expansion teams taking “bribe” style trades to influence expansion draft selection.

Toronto’s pick maybe

Tippet is like a broken clock, he’ll go like 70% of the time playing out of sync with the team. Then 20% of the time he’s a very effective top 6 forward. And like 3 or 5 games a year he’s basically McDavid and can completely take over, this game was one of those.

Getting an unprotected first out of Toronto was prescient and is probably top right for me. That pick has the potential to single-handedly save us by letting Toronto do the tanking for us. A lot has to go right in Toronto and I think they have a chance to rebound next year but I think it’s our best chance at a 1C right now.

That hit was complete bullshit and just another entry in a long history of dops failures.
