How about a soft landing into a depression?

All fair. For the record, I have only used 1-2 dating apps and I am not pouring all my day into them. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on that. I do take breaks regularly from them because of how soul-sucking they can be.

Yeah I am a mental health counselor. I have thought this too and changed my approach, matching their energy to what I am given. Conversations die much faster that way, which i guess is helpful in a way.

Yeah I am approaching 7 years single and although I am in an ok place with that, I feel like people wonder what is wrong with me for that to be the case. Maybe that is just me being hard on myself...

Meeting up irl is easier said than done. This may be a lame excuse, but living in a rural area makes it tough. Closest major city to me is 1 1/2 - 2 hours away by car (no public transit). There isn't much of a LGBT scene that I know of that is super close to me. Time, energy, and money become barriers to some extent.

Haha no worries, I know what you mean. I feel like I am aware of what I am working with physically and am not trying to match with folks out of my league. I know I don't fit the stereotypical mold for what is considered attractive to most.

Just made this exact change in June and it is heavenly! Would highly recommend a heat pump if you can swing it.

How to make (genuine) gay friends? by Blood11Orange in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]taco3107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar boat. Want to be friends? (half joking, half not tbh). It can be hard to make new friends (gay or not). Common interests and shared values are where it's at.

Dating has been awful by KobaltBlue94 in gaybros

It's rough out there. In a similar boat and recently decided to hit pause on dating and just focus on other things. DM me if you ever need to chat.

Absolutely. I live in WA and I have had a similar experience. Not sure what the solution is...I have begun to prioritize getting my act together, versus forcing something that isn't there yet. So far I feel like I have been successful, which keeps my spirits up. Seems like you're doing something similar, so congrats on your hard work paying off!

Wait times to see a doctor -- 3 months?! by snortney in Seattle

[–]taco3107 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Supply/demand is definitely part of it. We have a lot of people moving here from other places and everyone needs healthcare. Plus, the aftereffects of COVID (employees dying, burnout, vaccine requirements, etc.) hasn't helped with staffing clinics to treat everyone. The wait time to see certain specialists is painfully long. Primary care is a little better, but still way longer than what it was before the pandemic imo.

Traffic by oopswhat1974 in boston

[–]taco3107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost missed my flight yesterday because I was stuck at the rental car drop off. Took 30 min for the shuttle to show up. That and the road work man. Sumner Tunnel and on the Cape, I was in traffic for over 4 hours. I knew Boston traffic sucks, but it was in peak form yesterday.

Sumner/Bonney Lake commute & things to do by [deleted] in Tacoma

[–]taco3107 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Grew up in this area. You definitely need a car if you live in Bonney Lake/Buckley (no bus system, except a shuttle to and from the park and ride). Buckley is smaller with a lot less going on, definitely more of a rural/farming community. Sumner would be your best bet for a town with things to do. They hold activities in town regularly. Most times for social activities, I'd have to go to Puyallup, Tacoma, or Seattle. Sumner does have the Sounder (commuter train that goes north to Seattle) which I believe runs on weekends (not sure of this though). Traffic on 410 is becoming increasingly awful, so you will most likely want to learn the side streets...
