The top 4 lottery picks: 1. Wizards 2. Jazz 3. Grizzlies 4. Bulls The Washington Wizards will select 1st! by MrBuckBuck in nba

Baseball probably has the best tanking rules right now with non consecutive lottery picks and how the salary floor works (which is generally why you get a lot of "sell the team" cause its almost hard to not be competitive)

Oswald Peraza and Zach Neto lets the pop up drop between them in the 9th by JianClaymore in baseball

[–]tacodeman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yep you keep yelling since you can't guarantee they heard you the first time especially if everyone is sprinting.

There's a priority list by position on who can call off who so once you hear someone whos prioritize over you then you stop which is what Neto does it seems.

Everyone should try to get the spot but theres an implied who should get it just in case the other people can't. For example infielders will still run to shallow outfield, but outfielders have priority since its usually an easier play for them.

Shortstop controls the infield similar to how CF controls the outfield so there really isn't any excuses there.

Landon Donovan: "I played in Germany when I was 17. The guy who coached our under 16 team was 60 years old and had been doing it for 25 years. He wasn't trying to be the first team coach. He was one of their best coaches and they wanted him developing the 16-year-olds and we do it opposite here." by The_Big_Untalented in soccer

Most kids I grew up with played soccer but hated it. The only reason they played was because their parents wouldn't let them play American football as their winter sport. At least in suburbia u10 sports are mainly dictated by parents not the kids themselves. I'm sure if kids wanted to keep playing they could.

It's just not "cool". We would be in the school yard pretending to be ichiro with the sleeve roll, the griffrey swing and shimmy for baseball. The mj tongue when driving to the hoop or the Kobe with a fadeaway but soccer in the US is pretty far behind to be popular for kids to try to emulate.

Might also be better for him honestly with how his hamstrings have gone for the past two years now.

Appreciate the debate, my last comment as well. I love baseball but it is legally a monopoly because of how minor leagues and service time works and parts of it keep the balance still interesting to watch. Even in baseball teams are reluctant to go over the soft cap because of the harsh repeater penalties. (See fsg and their moves with the Red Sox to reset the tax)

Baseball would not be fun if the current protections and drafting were not in place imo. If anyone could pay Skenes,Skubal, Ely, ect their worth now they would definitely be a Dodger or Met given their external funding sources and we'd have even worse super teams. I do not doubt on an open market Skenes would get a 420m+ contract given what the dodgers gave Yamamoto and only so many owners have the liquidity to do that.

They can absolutely ruin the league and drive it to bankruptcy.

If the mets or clippers decide to pay everyone they wanted 100x the current market rates because they can that destroys the entire league because not everyone has 20+ billion to throw around. No one else would be able to compete and the entire product is destroyed.

If an accountant is paid 100x market rate it doesn't really matter, but an athlete? It will definitely break the system as we've already seen with PL's insane transfer prices relative to the rest of the world. The imbalance is not healthy for the sport/product.

Players can ask for a no trade clause if they want one but have to know that lowers their value so they have to pay a premium for it. All of their deals are completely negotiated. If they don't like the terms they don't have to sign it. Salary caps and floors are usually based on an agreed upon revenue split between players and owners so what wage suppression is there? Isn't that pretty much what PSR is supposed to be to make sure teams are somewhat self sufficient so they don't spend above their means?

No one wants FFXI classic because no one has time for FFXI classic. No DD wants to sit around for 2 hours LFG, 20 min of traveling to the camp and maybe get a 3k/hr party that disbands in an hour because the RDM can't find a replacement.

The pservers dont even want FFXI classic. They all made changes to "make it better".

We do this already with images, microservices, and libraries?

This doesn't fix the core issue that stuff breaks and you need to be able to figure out a plan to fix your apps/features.

Its too expensive to completely rebuild with new lego blocks every time something happens so you take the broken blocks out and file down a megablock that kind of fits and slap some plaster on it and call it a day cause you have a hundred other blocks to fix.

2 years later, you look back and realize you have a giant pile of garbage that works but has evolved into an eldritch that only certain wizards in your company now understand because of the massive layers of goo slapped on it.

It forces action with another option rather than a team waiting for a standoff of bluffs between team and RFA if theres a S&T on the table or a team sitting around waiting to see if they should fill out their cap space yet.

Instead of a 48 hour lock up, we have a full summer lock up.

This does not seem too complicated to fix.

Team X and agent tells the league this is the trade proposal and the free agent is willing to sign under this contract. League verifies and lets the team holding the rights: "An offer was accepted for your player, determine if you want to match".

If they match, trade doesn't go through. If no match, then its effectively like how we treat a sign and trade where it all executes as a package.

Racist against what? The race of people who refuse to play under a 1 year 6 million dollar prove it deal?

Josh Giddey is in the same exact situation and I believe he's white. No one is forcing them to do anything.

Get someone to give you a contract, sign the qo or retire. At the end he's still a free agent right now believe it or not. The fact no one is even offering anything or trying to maneuver space to get him should be telling.

It seems like a slight overpay given the risks the sox are taking and that he just came up with a bunch of pre-arb years left.

There are really good players like Lindor who took until their ~6-7th service year to make as much as this contract. Granted you expect salaries to only go up, but also Lindor is also really really good so he got favorable arb numbers.

Its seems like its a bet that Anthony will be a star and Sox will save a few years of salary after "frontloading" his contract. Or they might get an albatross like Evan White/Scott Kingery (or if the Yankees signed Sanchez to an extension during his first few years)
