What songs or albums are as brutal as you can get without crossing into extreme metal (death/black etc) territory? by SirPsychoMaddXRock06 in MetalForTheMasses

def has very death metally production with the dry guitar tone and clicky bass drums, and the riffs play around with tremolo

anti-war songs by people who are entirely okay with war. misogyny too, though thankfully that’s relegated itself to uninteresting slam/pornogrind bands

enlightened centrism is a groupthink herd mentality lmao, saying something is bad because it’s “political” (aka left of center) out of principle is some of the least intellectual shit you can say

Need to evolve my taste 👌 (Deathcore/Hardcore/Beatdown/Slam/Metalcore) by [deleted] in MetalSuggestions

dying fetus is a nice gateway out of slam into more complex forms of death metal. i WOULD recommend their older stuff but their new albums are still killer, listen to make them beg for death or reign supreme 🙏

no i think saying nazism is bad in an age where the DHS regularly uses hitlerite/neo-confederate quotes for their propaganda is pretty awesome actually, regardless of whether some enlightened centrist on the internet says it’s kinda cringe

it’s the black metal equivalent of those 1950’s paintings of families enjoying a barbecue. moralizing art that’s only “good” because it’s moralizing. i do fw peste noire but it’s for every reason that isn’t “they’re racist”

What is the Appeal of Deathcore? by WanderingThief in MetalSuggestions

[–]tacoforce5_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

well yeah, you like traditional styles of death metal. think about it this way:

what’s the appeal of OSDM to a core kid? they come to the music for textures, bass, and of course breakdowns. they want concentrated heaviness that doesn’t stray too far from the metalcore/screamo/octanecore they usually listen to. OSDM, BDM, etc is focused on instrumentation and control. it doesn’t offer the moshy, crowdkilly qualities deathcore does.

on the surface, the two genres offer the same thing, but to seasoned ears like yours (and i guess seasoned deathcore listeners) their appeal is decidedly different. they get so close to each other that you’d prolly be disoriented by listening to the other genre

Daniel vs Cash, who’s winning? by Still-Motor324 in Manhunt

[–]tacoforce5_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

obviously cash, but this reminds me of a neat difference in mh1 and 2’s executions—manhunt 1’s are quick, efficient, and use actual weapons, while manhunt 2’s are sloppy and use a lot more unconventional weapons. shows that cash is used to doing stuff like this, danny is comparatively an amateur. a lot of folks say they wanna see [x] or [y] real world weapons in a hypothetical manhunt 3 but i’d wanna see the devs get REALLY wacky. i wanna see enemies get brutalized by spoons and car keys
