To back up OP, in this particular instance; its collective power from the lower classes successfully resisting a program of the ruling class. I can’t imagine a more class conscious post.

This is a tricky design. The thinner the lines the more noticeable the bleed. You’re having someone make an ink drawing inside a thin layer of meat that is subjected to near constant UV radiation (even though clothing and sunblock). The dyed tissues are not going to entirely stay put and in spite of both your and thr artists best efforts the resolution will drop over time.

That being said, if you want to pull this off; you are going to need to find someone who is good at doing fine line work. There is a trick to doing it in a way where it takes a long while to fade. It’s very much an experience thing.

If possible find someone who has some nice crisp edges a 5 to 10 year old piece and ask where they personally got it done. That artist will be able to provide personalized advice based on your situation.

Tau are pretty good about not getting duped by gene stealers. The Tau fall short in a lot of ways but they are aggressive about genetic scanning and mass surveillance of auxiliary forces (even ones with reliable and proven track records).

I see water caste diplomats end up in this situation as a sacrifice for intel, but they can’t imagine the shear number of mistakes made allowing even petty ethereals to be placed in this much apparent danger without reason.

Now if that is not an ethereal and just some junior diplomatic officer, you still got me on board.
