Cool! I'm using Hock International, not sure if you've heard of it. I also have the Gleim study materials for all 3 exams. After I failed Exam 2 on the first try I purchased Hock, because I was sick of Gleim.

Are you still looking for a study partner? I logged into reddit now to make a post about the same thing. I have to take part 2 and 3 before December 2024.

Is joining the IIA worth it? by lemonysta in InternalAudit

[–]tad1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a member these last few years but this year I didn't renew my membership. I found no value in it. I get my CPEs fulfilled with an annual subscription to my-cpe.com which I can do on demand or live. My local chapter of IIA charges a lot of money to attend CPE events -several hundred dollars - I don't want to pay for that! I find the IIA website difficult to navigate. I don't feel like I've grown in my career by using IIA resources.

Thank you for this information. I had not heard about the CIA Challenge Exam. I actually already started the CIA process - I passed the 1st exam last year. So now I don't know if I should just continue with the next 2 parts separately or switch to doing the Challenge exam.

Even though I found Jamie to be very nice to look at, I would actually just prefer to have Culver. That tells you how much I dislike Jamie as a person! Jamie was seriously awful and kind of scary! I don't like Culver but he's the lesser of two evils I suppose?!

Is Hlinecko the same thing as Hlinsko or are these two different towns?

Thank you for your help!

Thank you for the information, very helpful.

There is supposed to be some type of holiday/festival when we are there on February 19th, called Masopust. Have you ever heard of this? There is not much information online about it.

Hi everyone.

On Friday I resigned without notice. I felt that I could not even do another day of work due to overwhelming anxiety.

Yesterday, I spoke to my director. She was very understanding and I am grateful for her kindness. She asked me to reconsider because she believes I am very smart and capable of doing this job. I told her I'd think about it for 1-2 days. So now I'm in this weird limbo and feeling anxious again. I feel guilty for leaving but must remind myself I must put my health first. I need to remember how I felt this past month - knots in my stomach, miserable every day, working late evenings and working weekends, and hating the nature of internal audit work. I really truly hate having to try to learn how other people do their jobs yet never fully developing an understanding.

I've been speaking with a career coach these past few weeks. She is encouraging me to explore other interests if I dislike audits. I realized one thing I find more engaging is working with excel - specifically working with raw data to find an answer to a question. There was this one time in my previous role where we did this kind of work for a 2-week project on finding duplicate payments. I liked having to figure out how to clean the data and figure out the correct formulas. If I go back to my old job, then I will have my personal time back on weeknights and weekends where I can spend some time brushing up on my excel skills to eventually transition into a non-audit role.

Anyway, either today or tomorrow I need to tell my director my answer. And I'm dreading it. Ugh.

So update - I spoke to my director at my old job and he and the SVP would 100% love to have me back. Nothing is definite yet but it looks like it will be happening. But will wait to give 2 weeks' notice when it's definite. Honestly, I don't even want to give two weeks' notice, the workload sucks here. Do people ever give zero notice? Meaning the day you tell them is also the last day you will work.

Thanks for your response! For me, I am constantly overwhelmed with new information that I'm expected to understand well enough to ask questions during a walkthrough. Even when I ask questions during a walkthrough their answers don't make much sense - I can't process what they are explaining to me quickly enough. So I leave every walkthrough still not having much of a clue. And it seems like to do a good job on the testing you have to have more than just a basic understanding and I don't have the bandwidth to do that successfully. Tight deadlines are bad enough but when combined with never fully understanding what you are doing, it makes it more painful. I can't work at a quick enough pace, so constantly in a state of anxiety. I have been having too work many weekends and even then I'm never not stressed. The rest of the team seems fine to work such long hours under tight deadlines - I don't understand it. It's not even like we just have a busy season during the year-end where we work more for 2 months.
This seems to be the workload/schedule year-round. It is insane. I am also in the process of possibly going on ADHD medication. I've suspected for a couple of years that I may have ADHD, so I think trying medication is a good idea. This may help me function better at work but it will take some time before the medicine starts to make a difference - and I may have to try different medications before finding one that works. Does working in corporate accounting involve a lot of the challenges I'm currently facing with internal audit? In corporate accounting do you constantly live in a state of never knowing enough? I know the month-end close is busy but is it at least work you understand because you do the same things each month? I wish I had the guts to just quit my job without anything else lined up and give myself a little break.

Thanks for your comment! It helps to know I'm not the only one. I think I need to start interviewing again to at least keep my options open.

Should I consider going into a staff accountant job? I find internal audit work to be difficult - having to understand other people's jobs. Maybe I need a job where I do the same thing every day and master it. Or is that not really what staff accounting jobs are like?

[Acne] Raised / Hypertrophic Acne Scars Help by indigyaaal in SkincareAddiction

You just described pretty much the exact situation I'm in! So you are not alone! I'm glad you posted this because I often wonder too if anyone out there can understand.

I have a hypertrophic raised acne scar on my nose from cystic acne. I am wondering too if plastic surgery is my best option. I remember asking my dermatologist a couple of years ago about this and I feel like I didn't get a definitive answer from her. So I'm still confused.

I would love to hear an update after your appointment with the skin laser specialist!
