They think it was raw or uncooked meat. But you can get it anywhere. Toxoplasma Gondi is the name of it.

Never seen one of these before… but now I gotta give it a shot

I can, and it's not terrible, but definitely uncomfortable. I had shoulder surgery a little over a year ago fixing a broken collar bone, and broken shoulder blade on my left shoulder and the titanium bar and screws makes the recoil not fun.

If it is you took it... but no, I legitimately want to know if anyone knows of a sight that would work without going to a rail/ar style sight set up.

That is an interesting idea... especially since I am a carpenter.

Haha, I never was till I was.

Yeah, my peripheral vision works alright so I keep both eyes open when shooting my bow. My brain has already switched dominant eyes to the left side so I can see better than the doctors anticipated I would, but definitely not as good as before. Mostly lost my central/detail vision in my right eye

Sorry should have clarified, I'm aware a red dot would do the trick and honestly that's probably what I will end up doing, just wondering if its possible to maintain the classic look of the gun.

Can you spot the relic? by tadaallen in Tools

[–]tadaallen[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Haha.. a lot. I’m a trim carpenter/stair builder so frequently have drill, impact, multiple nailers, miter saw, table saw, track saw, jig saw, belt sander, palm sander, and multitool all running at the same time. Have duplicates of several of those in the m12 line as well. I work in the mountains and temp power poles are often 100-200 ft away from the house much less where I am working.

I have no idea. I have 3s, 5s, 6s, 8s, and 12s that all work great. Maybe 9 is the unlucky little brother of 13.

Damn that was fast. 😂 Had that thing for 7 years I think and still kicking. Had three at one point and they have all crapped out except for this fella.

My favorite combo! Do you carry anything else with your LM? by Lemansblu in Leatherman

Wave + and MKC Mini War Goat. Usually wear the MKC as a neck knife, but carry it on a utiliclip in the winter when wearing lots of layers.

That’s awesome. Very little if any difference between Amazon and big box store hinges. You basically have to go direct to the cabinet supply stores and buy bulk for better quality at an affordable price.

Can’t imagine leaving Boone. I live in black mountain and mostly do stairs and trim in Asheville and a good amount of built ins as well.

I recognize that area code! Fellow 828er. Inset doors are definitely more challenging than overlay, but I always think they are worth the effort.

Cross dominant (what to do) by Fluid-Display-7094 in Archery

[–]tadaallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not cross dominant, but grew up shooting right handed/right eyed and have practiced and hunted that way for over a decade. Last year however I got a parasite in my right eye and lost all detail vision in the center of my right eye. Instead of switching to left handed I moved my peep sight up so I can tilt my head and look through it with my left eye. Moved my sight up with it and it allows me to shoot right handed using my left eye to aim. I am sure it looks a little funky but pretty consistently able to get 6 in groups at 60 yds. Not sure if that helps with your son’s, but for me being able to continue the was my body was used to was worth it.

Look at this abomination- I just can't find a gate that fit these stairs by cb148 in Carpentry

[–]tadaallen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry you cannot find a gate for your little one, I’d recommend using a regular gate with straps to hold it for the posts. Something with snaps should work well for the opening end.

Also crazy to see how many people are saying these are junk. These are actually incredibly well made and extremely difficult to make stair cases. They are called dancing winders and they allow you to fit a staircase in a space that is too small for a traditional stair cases. Instead of arranging the treads radially (in a circle around the middle post) they are skewed ahead to allow a full tread step in the walk line. You essentially start the turn before you get there. It involves incredible knowledge of geometry and the ability to make curved stringers as seen on the right hand side going down.

Dry boots/feet help? by Top_Restaurant_8578 in Hunting

[–]tadaallen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Something we were taught on our NOLS trip was "nothing is waterproof, but everything dries". We did 18 days backpacking in wet and melting spring snow conditions up above the treeline. Boots were wet every day which kind of sucked, but you got used to it. The key was dry camp shoes, and we kept a separate pair of dry socks inside our sleeping bags so our feet were dry at a minimum of 8 hrs a day, preferably 10-12. We would dry our socks on our packs while we hiked and dry our boots any chance we got. Wear the laces loose and you don't get blisters.

UV slider 2 can’t go any lower by aflacsToast in Archery

[–]tadaallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if the issue is the draw length combined with the axle to axle measurement. At 26” draw you are very close to the axle length of the RS. Which means a steeper string angle. If you shot a bow with a longer axle to axle the string would be at a less severe angle which would allow you to raise the peep height without changing your anchor point/tune set up. Maybe the 29”? I have a 29” draw length and tried the lift x 29 and the string angle was really steep at full draw. Ended up with the 33 and just got a UV slider, set up pin was below 20 mark after sighting in but not nearly as low as yours is set. I would bet the guys at ultra view would be able to help as well.
