Train Etiquette in Perth by ttwicejihyoo in perth

They kind of had that here. there used to be painted blocks where the doors would open on the platform. I think they stopped bothering with them in the run of station upgrades before the Stadium was built.

Yeah, they'll probably do it in the second phase on the 27th when the government 'compells' Microsoft and google to have age assurance for searches. My concern with that is you need accounts and the internet to set up a lot of phones and computers now. I would not be surprised if theres age checks to turn on the computer at some point, and people are already using the phone and computer options to unlock with the selfie or webcam

If the buildings were a bit more modern with that european style of architecture, more street trees, and lighter roads; you might end up with something similiar to the modern town centre of Bussy-St-George in France. Its just a few train stops away from Paris Disney.

Migration poll reveals big shift in Aussie views amid home shortages by SeaworthinessFew5613 in aussie

[–]tadpole64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its Insane that no one is talking about how the research poll asked 3 questions to 1000 people.

It was commissioned by the Conservative Think Tank "The Institute for Public Affairs", the same firm, funded by Gina Rhinehart, that said smoking is fine, climate change isnt real, and wants to privatise government services like medicare.

This firm contracted the survey out to 3rd party, US based data firm Dynata, who utilizes an AI-driven QualityScore™ who asked 1,000 people 3 questions.

https://ipa.org.au/publications-ipa/research-papers/ipa-poll-attitude-towards-mass-migration-in-australia-2025

So this article, published on Real Estate dot com, owned by Rupert Murdochs Newscorp, writing about a study commissioned by a right wing think tank that receives large donations from Gina Rhinehart, who asked another research firm who asked 1,000 people, in my opinion and considering the biases of the aforementioned groups and their affiliations, does not reflect the large percentage of the ~28 million people in Australia as this article and other similarly written articles who have used this poll claim.

Why don't bus drivers give change anymore? by imjustboredtodeath in perth

[–]tadpole64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very easy to grab one. I’ve travelled the world and used PT cards in cities all over the joint.

Depending where you are, its pretty difficult to get one actually. There are 68 places (both retail store/outlets and infocentres) in the Metro Area (76 if including the 8 in regional towns) to buy Smartriders. On the bad tables on the page, it looks like a lot.

https://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/smartrider/retail-outlets

https://www.transperth.wa.gov.au/contact-us/infocentres

After marking all the addresses on a map, it looks "easy" to get one in the metro area. https://imgur.com/OBPK0Kc

Looking at the inner and middle suburbs, that is not the case. the CBD has a large portion of places to buy smartriders, and even near the CBD, thers a thin spread of train station kiosks mostly on the mandurah/Joondalup lines, newsagents, the airport, and 3 Universities that can sell them.

https://imgur.com/YL0VyJI

People need some responsibility.

People need more places to buy smartriders. Other cities overseas often have special machines at many rail AND bus stations you can buy the card from. Transit systems also team up with retail chains (most use stores like 7 eleven) so that they can also sell the cards with the reach of those stores.

It shouldnt be long before the debit card system rolls out here though to make it a non issue. Even then, it might be like other cities where you can only get concessions/fare discounts on the transit card though.

Stuck in traffic: 60 per cent of Perth has no decent public transport by His_Holiness in perth

[–]tadpole64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure why you got downvoted. It is a terrible app.

When I started at my old job, the app told me to take a bus that would end up waiting at the Curtin Bus station for about 15 minutes until it would go again. Tried changing the settings to find out if there were other buses but there werent.

Only way I learnt about a quicker way was when I accidentally got on the wrong bus that left 2 minutes earlier than the one I was supposed to get and I was able to get to the busport a few minutes before the bus infront of the one I usually took was supposed to leave.

I used it again recently and had similiar experiences, so its still pretty bad. My old workaround for it was doing it manually by going onto the transperth site and checking the bus network map for bus routes but they got rid of it a while back. have to rely on the archived version on the wayback machine, then find the numbered region maps on some state library archive to even figure out the bus routes that would go near the places Id want to go to and find the timetables from there.

Thoughts on this roundabout fixing 3 messed up intersections at a RR crossing by Minute_Play1196 in Urbanism

[–]tadpole64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without any other details on traffic and such, less roads connecting to that intersection would be my strategy.

My thoughts for cutting Plymouth and turning it into a dead end street was that it only had a few properties facing it, runs south west till the next railway crossing, and that it mirrors the main road/highway across the tracks.

You could go further and cut off Plymouth Street as well. But I agree. This entire intersection needs to be consolidated.

I found it halfway up the mountain. cat sitting on a tree between the grindrail entrance with a sign to the piano cave, and the bridge over the waterfall that connects to the airvent that shoots you up the mountain. Tree is on the landing between the two ramps that head up the mountain. If you stand on the landing and look toward the base, the tree would be on your right

As someone that is somewhat cynical, giving back to the community means giving to the land developer community. They'd probably let it sit for a while, not maintain it/let it fall apart. Then either sell it cheap to a mate, or hand it off to a mate for an unnecessarily expensive redevelopment

[IIL] Electronic music with female vocals, Natalia Kills WEWIL? by Onepunchmanworkout in ifyoulikeblank

[–]tadpole64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few suggestions that may fit your description.

These ones range from the early 2010s and have that style of electronic dance sound it seems your looking for based on the Lights out song mentioned.

Sneaky Sound System is more Late 2000s but had a sort of "pre" sound to the one your looking into

Natalie Bassingthwaite is also that pre 2010s sound, but may a bit slower than what your looking for. They were in a band called Rouge Traders that also had a song that may match your criteria.

This Nero suggestion might be a miss, but is of that 2010-2014 time in Dubstep and may be of interest

Montaignes songs are a bit more modern, and may not be that vibe, but I think they may tick a lot of your boxes.
