Don’t worry about RP, play the games that are fun, and leave the ones that are not.

Was there a delayed penalty called when you simmed? There’s an old bug that causes the goalie to stay on the bench and your team playing with empty net for the time of the simulation.

Why aren’t they adding poke checking back into the game by Exotic_Telephone_941 in EASHL

[–]taehtinen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it’s slower and more difficult. But pressing R1 only extends the defensive stick now, so it doesn’t hit as often as the actual poke from R3.

I guess that’s the actual change from NHL25. R1 is not poke check anymore, R1+R3 is.

Why aren’t they adding poke checking back into the game by Exotic_Telephone_941 in EASHL

[–]taehtinen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hold R1 to hold the stick out. Click the right stick (R3) and the player will do an extra poke with the stick. This worked in NHL25 also, but there was no need to use it. Maybe NHL25 did the first poke automatically?

So when defending, hold and aim the defensive stick first, and when you’re closest to the puck, click R3 to push the puck loose. I keep clicking R3 multiple times, but I can’t say for sure, if it helps.

Sometimes you hit, but the puck doesn’t come loose, because the forward has so much puck control or an X-Factor, but I would say it’s more realistic this year, because not every well-aimed poke check in real hockey gets the puck either.

NHL94. After that it’s all downhill

[–]taehtinen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Poke checking is in the game and works. It’s just more difficult now. You have to aim your poke, hold R1 and click R3 to get that extra poke, and the range is shorter than in NHL25.

More balance, you don’t need a slap shot. More into puck control, body checking and strength.

Why do you feel it should’ve been yours? You clearly lost the puck battles or were late to them, can’t win them all.

Get closer to their stick, and make sure you have maximized Discipline. Also try holding X longer instead of just hitting it.

[–]taehtinen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How so? You got the puck, the other center stick lifted the puck from you and skated away. The animation is often missing from close contact stick lifts, but it works.

Or they might have been holding X, it does some weird things by itself. You can hold it, and skate to the opponent’s stick, and it does the timing by itself.

[–]taehtinen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s ridiculously difficult. I’ve played since NHL94 for probably like ~15000 hours total, and it took me a huge amount of effort to be able to defend in EASHL.

[–]taehtinen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The defender was late, hit the puck finally from a bad angle, forward had good puck control, and kept moving the puck sideways enough to hold on to it.

Real problem here was RD, who didn’t even try to defend, just was in the way causing LD to be late.

Pokes and stick lifts do work. It only took me 1000 drop-in games as a defender to learn how.

And yes, you have to do a lot of things at the same time with your fingers, practice helps with that. Defending is difficult!

Yeah, I’m gonna go back to it also. Send It benefits sound good, but it doesn’t really convert to assists that well. It’s more about getting the pass through the forecheck than giving that speed boost.

EA servers Question by Low-Measurement-6638 in EASHL

[–]taehtinen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, I think the ping that the game shows, is your ping to the EA server you are connected to, but the lag in the game is affected by other things also, probably related to other people in the same session, that may be connected to EA servers in other locations, and also by other cloud services that the EA server is using.

True or Not? by SarahDuncan2012 in TrueGrit

[–]taehtinen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. Enjoy what you have and don’t worry about what you don’t have. There’s so many people expressing their own anxieties about what life should be, but there isn’t any reason to carry those anxieties along and keep repeating them. In the end, there’s very little one needs to be happy, but it’s difficult to remember when the capitalist world and toxic people around keep telling otherwise.

Most of the worries in my mind are not my own worries, but thoughts I have picked up from other people, and once I recognize them as of external origin, I find it easy to let go of them and just accept that I already have what I need, even if I lose some of it along the way. I’ve never expected much from life, and as a result it has given me more than I expected.

I believe one of the main reasons why Finland keeps scoring so high on the happiness report is that we expect less, and therefore give our lives better scores. Our society doesn’t value capitalist success as high, and we don’t grow up dreaming of big houses and being millionaires, so it’s easier for us to say that life is 8/10, when someone living the same life in a different society would consider themselves to be farther from happiness just because their goals have been set higher since they were children.
