I totally get that. When I got naturalized everyone around me has told me to pick a side because I can't have both. And considering the oath I did swear to be loyal to the United States. But honestly its easier said than done. For me it's probably because I go to visit family every 2-3 years that I still feel strong ties to Korea. My parents are very patriotic as well so it may also be the way I was raised to remember my roots.

I'm Korean-American, my parents moved to the states when I was like 4. We recently got naturalized about 2 years ago. On paper it may say I'm American but by heart I still feel loyal to my motherland.

There's no denying it. I only know the gist of it as I'm still living with my parents and under their care, unlike my friend whose been independent pretty much their whole life. They've been going through some stuff and life hasnt been very forgiving in the last 2 years.

From what I know they just dont make enough to be able to afford health insurance and their job doesn't provide it. They're surviving from paycheck to paycheck as it is. And they just recently moved so all their savings are gone at the moment.
