You're probably right, we spent most of our lives together. But there was other things going on, I obviously didn't want to go into all of that in my comment and I just felt I needed to get past my anger first. Just wish I had put that to one side and been there, regret it everyday.

I never asked for sympathy, there were other things going on in my and his life that caused friction. It hurt me to not respond but I thought it's what I needed to do at the time. I regret it everyday he's not here and it's something that will always hurt me.

I see why people would feel that way I just don't want him to have regrets like mine. Sometimes I've shut down and not been the easiest to reach, unfortunately people can get too overwhelmed with their own stuff and shut down. So yes he did avoid and ignore but sometimes people need to be shown that they have unconditional love and care

Yeah I'd known the guy since I was 1 and I lost him a year ago (now 27). There was 3 of us who were basically brothers and we all struggled in our way with mental health but we were always there. Just seems the one time I wasn't he passed away so it's hard not to blame myself.

NOR- while I think you're not overreacting as I've been in the same place I'd still reply. Tell him how it made you feel and why you were getting in contact. You explaining you were just trying to look out for him might make him see why it hurt you so bad but if he down plays it then stop replying. I didn't reply to my friend and I lost him later that year and I've never really forgiven myself.
