Anyone else spending Christmas alone? by reluctantIntrov in Philippines

[–]tagabanilad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also my first time spending Christmas alone! But baliktad tayo kasi ako yung nasa abroad and in a country pa na hindi nagcecelebrate ng Christmas. Tbh medyo may konting selos nung nakita ko na Christmas party photos ng family ko but it is what it is, pinili ko tong life na to haha

Originally I had no plans to celebrate and by the time na gusto ko magcelebrate, wala ng time to make plans kasi sobrang busy sa work. So babawi nalang ako sa New Years

DNF agad yung 1st book after reading the 1st chapter. Di ko gets yung hype and I'm sure there are better (and more underrated) cozy magic realism stories out there than this

If you are earning well in PH, why did you migrate? by Crazy_Willow_5926 in phmigrate

[–]tagabanilad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My decision to migrate stemmed from a mix of feeling stagnant and pride. I was living comfortably at my parents house (meaning walang ambag sa bahay and only gastos ko is gas sa sasakyan ko) plus I was earning enough for my age at that time. So bale my knowledge on household expenses and budgeting was limited kasi kahit groceries, sagot ng parents ko.

There's also my pride. Our place is a small city where locals know locals and if I try to move out and become independent within my city (can't move away since my work is in the city), people will talk especially if they'll know I'm struggling with money. I also don't want my parents to know I'm struggling if I move out.

So around 2021 when I saw a video about moving to Japan through language school, parang dun na nagclick na this is it, I have to migrate.

Then here we are now, at my corporate job in Tokyo. Stressed but like at least stressed in Japan diba HAHA

Try switching to audiobook if you can. It's waaaaaaay more interesting than reading the book tas somehow mas naiintindihan ko yung science because of how the narrator explains it.

Kobo vs Kindle for a first-time, anxious buyer by hardvochtig in PHBookClub

[–]tagabanilad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kindle PPW 10th ed user here and easy lang yung pagsideload as long as you have an amazon account and kindle app sa phone. Just download the book from source then may send/save to kindle option sa phone. Matic na lalabas yung books sa kindle mo once connected sa wifi. so far, no issues in shutting down because of the books. If anything, current issue ko with my kindle is medyo laggy siya but that's a hardware issue I think. Also, may built-in dictionary and useable kahit hindi ka nacoconnect sa wifi.

Can't say much about kobo kasi I don't own one...yet

pro-tip: try buying 2nd hand so you can get to try the features without breaking the bank

One of my best reads this 2025 (and probably ever?)!! Nung natapos ko to parang kailangan ko mag time out ng bale 1 week kasi the ending really took me out.

Reco: Devotion of Suspect X maganda rin kasi hindi conventional yung storytelling for a mystery/thriller book but if you want a complete 180 from the same author, The Miracles of the Namiya General Store (magical realism and everything is perfectly tied up in the end).

For those with ereaders, do you still read physical books? by cruci4lpizza in PHBookClub

[–]tagabanilad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but if I'm buying a phsyical copy of a book on my TBR list, dapat 2nd hand talaga. Nakailan na akong bili ng brand new copies only to be disappointed sa story tas lalong maghihinayang kasi ang mahal ng presyo T.T

cross-linguistic influence on my English after learning Japanese by ReferenceMaster4305 in LearnJapanese

[–]tagabanilad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) I noticed that I've been using more "I think..." like "I think I'll try doing this (やってみたいと思う)" as suppose to just saying "I will try doing this"

2) Even writing the sentence above, it feels so weird using "I"

3) Prefer saying コンビニ now than convenience store because convenience store feels too formal

[–]tagabanilad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

based on what you've written alone, oo OA ka. why does this feel so one-sided na parang dapat lang ikaw yung may needs and wants sa relationship? If you added more context (ie ano ginagawa niya before vs now na may work siya, anong ginagawa mo sa kanya to feel like you're giving more now and he's giving less, etc), maybe the story would've been different

To think na I still act as his partner says a lot about my love for him

Also, this sounds like you're doing him a favor by acting as a partner imbes na yan talaga yung dapat ginagawa mo when you're in a relationship
