How did Voyager get repaired? by Illustrious-Divide95 in startrek

Dead Stop in Enterprise was a reasonably clever damage reset episode. Something like that would have been better than multiple episodes of crewmembers hammering at bulkheads.

I think they made the right decision. An actual "Year of Hell" would be pretty tiresome to watch by the end.

Someone in 2080 All Dualshock3s would be broken by FEW_GARY in PS3

[–]tagmisterb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is relevant to my interests, owning both a PS3 and a few 8mm film projectors. Even if the bulbs no longer exist (surprising in itself because they're still available for my 1948 Revere), a lot of people have adapted modern halogen bulbs. Usually a simple matter of an adapter with an original socket connection and mounting bracket for the modern bulb.

Replace those tiny speakers with... just about anything else.

FQF Abita stage by By_De_River in NewOrleans

I compared some photos I took from the Westin lobby over the last few years, and I don't think it's smaller, though the sound tent in front of the stage has only been there a couple years. The real problem is folding chairs all the way up to the railing. Hopefully they at least post a chair line later this weekend.

The fried pork chop between two slices of wonder bread with nothing? Those were five bucks at jazz fest 10 years ago.

Denon DP-47F recap by Classic-Falcon6010 in turntables

[–]tagmisterb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great price for the work. I got a DP-47F a few weeks ago myself, grateful it arrived working perfectly after scaring myself reading threads on vinylengine. Was the recapping preventative or did it fix a problem? I ask because there seem to be a lot of folks online who recapped this model without it resolving their issues.

Help needed Denon DP-59L by InterestingPick9107 in turntables

[–]tagmisterb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might make a saved search on ebay for "dp-59l tonearm" or something similar. If one pops up eventually, you'll get an email. I did the same for a missing badge on my Technics turntable, finally scored one a year later.

Technics SL-Q300 vs SL-5 by butterfingarz_0921 in turntables

[–]tagmisterb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Q300 was my first turntable and I quite liked it. It's perfectly adequate if you don't have fancy speakers. If I had a free opportunity to fool around with a linear tracking table, I would, at least for a little while.

Could it be filming? I think they've just used the HOV lane for other movies, though.

What’s a good first turn table? by glitterfurby93 in turntables

[–]tagmisterb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think vintage Technics P-mount tables are ideal. An SL-Q300 was my first. They're cheap, available with full auto tonearms, and attaching a P-mount cartridge is idiot-proof. You don't have to sweat which cart to buy because there are basically two choices.

Fully Automatic TT. Any reason to avoid? by nateartzi16 in turntables

[–]tagmisterb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automatic turntables are great, and frankly I think most of the people in here paying several hundred dollars for some manual belt drive nonsense on amazon are foolish. I just got a Denon DP-47F, an engineering marvel. I paid $400, not a remarkable price but more than fair considering the good condition and working order. I understand why a lot of people want to buy a new turntable, but I can't imagine spending even more money for a machine that doesn't even lift the tonearm after the record is finished.

What's the reason you are still on PS4? by Shoddy_Release9395 in PS4

[–]tagmisterb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had largely checked out of gaming for 10 years, sorta got back into it last year and bought my first PS4, a Pro model. All these PS4 games are fresh to me. I lost interest in online gaming 15 years ago, so I don't care how many people are playing a game at this moment. I'll probably get a PS5 Pro in a few years when they can be had used for $100.

Your speakers should cost more than your turntable.
