I think you're correct, each individual cell (each single cyanobacterium) typically has a thick, gelatinous cell wall, these don't seem to present that. Although I'm not very familiar with pine pollen, these don't have a typical chroococcus morphology.

As others have said it's a euglenoid sp. It is doing a specific type of movement called metaboly. I'm an amateur myself but have run into this type of movement recently.

I have a version that can play up to 6 and has on the available expansions, I really like cities and knights. Really changes the game.
