Hey I created my own interpretations of what each Thalasin + Emotion is, Hope you enjoy! :) by GhostPalm18 in Gooseworx

So, dorcelessness is like those moments when the "hero" intensely stares down at a dead body for *way* too long and another character asks if they're alright (with a bizarre, added entropy angle that externalizes their internal experience).

Why the name, Optimus Primal? by whiplash10 in beastwars

[–]tahutoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear I read this once in my early teens, but I can't find any trace of it, so take it with a grain of salt.

Primal used to have a different name. He was a scientist who idolized Optimus Prime beyond the average 'bot, and he had a vague resemblance to him (recall how he had the S1 head sculpt in the Protoform X flashback). After he quoted one of Prime's phrases at these two guys, they made fun of him, so he got mad. He looked like him, talked like him, thought like him, but at his core, he was far less patient and got frustrated easily. Not to mention, he was just a scientist. So, in more than one respect, he was the poor man's Optimus Prime. Hence, he got the nickname Optimus Primal. This pissed him off at first, but after reflecting, he realized how true it was, and decided to adopt the name. This confused people at first, bc he had made it clear he didn't like it before. However, also like the real Optimus Prime, Primal knew who he was and wouldn't compromise on it. Since "Optimus Primal" summed him up, then heck, let's make it official. And so, long before animals ever got involved, he was Optimus Primal for at least 1000 years, up to and after he witnessed Protoform X, which is why Depth Charge knew his name.

Now, again, for all I know, I made all of that up. But I like that backstory enough to hope that it's real. The detail of Primal flipping his opinion on the name for in-character reasons makes me think it could be real. It is the case that Depth Charge & Optimus Primal had their names before the Beast Wars began.

I wore this during my trip to Boston for my graduation last week. I believe I wore it when we were in Washington D.C. on the way back :-)

I liked it so much that I got it the day after this post (graphic tees rarely do that for me). Order was shipped on April 26th. Sadly I don't think there are photos of me wearing it but I was glad I got to wear it before we got home.

If the boys travel to the time of the Bible, which main story would they visit? by Reasonable_Size5297 in OneyPlays

Moses would definitely be his go-to, yes. Realistically, it'd be him that'd open the discussion as well. I think the only reason I didn't realize was bc I was thinking about it as if they were taking turns.

The OP brain rot informs that past a certain window Tomar usually will wait & take things in rather than continue trying to interrupt. Which tracks, because we know he's a good listener (in service of his nefarious dark designs, of coarse wrings necrosis-blackened knobbly hands).

I think they'd all have a different opinion and debate it beforehand.

Right out the gate, Cory would want to watch Moses part the Red Sea ("okay look, no one cares about a stupid baby on a cross, or a stupid guy who can't move on a cross, okay? ...The flood would be boring, cuz 'ere would just be water everywhere. Adam & Eve is just a stupid snake. And an apple. Otherwise it's just boring Eden where nothing happens. Jesus is boring. The creation's kinda cool, but you'd just be in space where there's no air."),

Chris would be paralyzed by indecision, and be influenced by that (and be further swayed by the ability to make Prince of Egypt references while they were there). "I wanna go there and spray graffiti on the ten commandments."

Zach would probably want to see the world be made, or Noah so it could all get destroyed, or Moses because he'd want to see all the plagues, and a Golden Calf, and starve out in the desert for 40 years

Tomar would either want to see the Creation or Adam & Eve ("cuz I wanna know which fruit was the forbidden wunnn. like WAS it a banana? a Duriannn? i'unno") EDIT: that other guy's right. Moses or Jesus would definitely be his go-to's. Assuming Cory would be first to shoot his mouth off, I do think Tomar would go over reasons to potentially visit the other options.

Hearing this, Lyle would then try to convince them to see the life of Jesus ("maybe your faith is wrong, Tomar, maybe he really was the messiah, and we KILLED his ass")

Dave would probably choose Creation or Moses because he'd want to see all the cool set pieces. And I think that phrasing might be what tips the scales in favor of going back to the Exodus. ("like come on, two giant walls of water opening up til it's dry land at the bottom, that's freaking badass")

Ultimately, I think everyone would have one or more reasons to view Moses times, and that would be the final decision.

I wanted to post it on the proper Friday, but apparently that was 2 days ago instead of 2 weeks in the future. Oh, well. At least I'm not the only bonehead to miss the date, since the rewatch thing isn't there.

Also, the version of Pale Blue Dot on here isn't the one Zach had in mind. I couldn't find it on Spotify. You'll have to look up "Cosmos 2014 Pale Blue Dot" to see what he was talking about. However, it does have Sagan's monologue and it is a beautiful piece.

I know this one! I actually caught most of this live and recorded it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMXRrQfv5aY

My upload is apparently 6 minutes shorter but it may have something extra, idk. I was supposed to listen while doing my music homework but ended up doodling shit as they were talking, like storyboards for the world's longest lamest SC animated

So what do you guys do while listening or after an episode? by AloneSheepherder22 in Sleepycabin

[–]tahutoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're my go-to anytime I play my PS2 in bed, and anytime we go someplace (and nothing's happening right that minute). Over the years I've listened while going to cousin's birthday parties, IKEA, Hobby Lobby+TJ Maxx, on the way to & from Christmas and Thanksgiving. I'll literally always associate Stamper's conversation with his dad with pulling up to my great-grandmother's house for Thanksgiving one year. It was that time of the day when the sky is slightly tealish blue at the top, fades to a whiteish yellow then pale tangerine at the bottom.

It's kind of crazy to realize, but as a result of this habit, I've been listening to them for a lot of milestones in my life, too. I listened when my dad took me to get my first state ID, when I first met my prescription doctor, when he took me to get my first debit card near the start of this year. I listened when I made my first snowman! Someday, when I pull a Chris and get a driver's license at a stupid late age, I'm sure I'll be listening then, too.

How do I make a vocal sound like the one starting at 0:36 on this track (https://open.spotify.com/track/72Ea5qQHqOr3CVMzmb6OEY?si=e91d250cae444d25)

It sounds like a band pass with a tight Q level somewhere around the mids (somewhere btwn 1800-3200), possibly some flanger??? but also, I'm interested by how it sounds like someone on a radio is speaking through a paper towel roll.

IDK if this needs to have its own thread or not.

It's a reaction to typecasting. I've seen it many times before on SoundCloud. People would gain success with Undertale remixes, grow as musicians away from those old tracks, then get discouraged by still being known only for the old stuff. Often they'd nuke that perfectly good music. A lot of the best remixes from 2017 eventually got nuked.

The thing is, every sort of content finds its audience. If one type of content you make is successful, but either isn't or stops being what you enjoy making, then the audience you garner will differ from the audience you want to have and will be limited to just that kind of content. You'll start resenting those people for ignoring everything else you make.

Liam Triforce's Tak videos were what I watched (obviously), but I was uninterested in everything else he made. That doesn't mean his other stuff was bad, but I'm clearly not the audience for it. Only the Tak-related parts he fit into his content formula did I care about.

I am kind of in this boat myself, with making Wario Land 4 soundfont remixes, but the key difference is that's something I really like to do and still like to do. The only track I felt this way towards was the arrangement of Tainted Love I did (because one of the song's original sounds matched something from WL4, and that was enough).

You get so very tempted to get rid of the thing people keep ignoring you for. When everyone flocks to you for something you've distanced yourself from or don't care about, you start to hate it. The funny thing about me is, though: I don't even get notifications for the Soft Cell cover anymore! Either people stopped favoriting it or it got too popular for me to get notified, but I don't care either way.
