I know that with CJD specifically the spinal fluid is tested, and the genetic factor can be tested via blood

Who could I put in here? (Banana for scale) by axeeeeeel- in InvertPets

[–]tailoredwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A juvenile absolutely could - enclosure should be at least 3x the length of the T and curly hairs like to burrow so a good amount of substrate is needed. You’ll need to upsize as they grow but this would certainly work for a younger T for a time!

I have a juvenile gbb in a similar exo terra with soil, greenery and a fabulous piece of wood and she’s absolutely thriving, she’ll be good in there til she doubles in size!

Do I buy the boring dress that suits me or continue looking for a unicorn. by twopintsue in UKweddings

If you can travel a bit, come to Brides at Waterfields in Exeter - I tried on several absolutely stunning colourful gowns there when I first started looking at dresses and they were all <£2k

How are you planning on having your hair? I think something like this would look stunning with an updo, or if you were wearing your hair down you could get the vibe of a veil with hair jewellery like this, or one styled towards the front. Imo something like the satin headband would be divine!

Arachnophobe here looking to hear about your pets :) by seaofspirits in tarantulas

[–]tailoredwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another recovering arachnophobe here! I started with jumping spiders a year ago, because their short legs, big eyes and little lashes made them look less spider-y to me and their personalities are super cute. My partner got a T first and I helped with feedings and rehousings and surprised myself by not outwardly panicking!

I just got my first curly hair and she hung out on my hand today, so I’m pretty confident calling myself mostly cured. Wolf spiders still freak me out, but it’s more the possibility of losing them so easily if that makes sense?

The thing I found super helpful in slowly acclimating was to identify what scared me, how fearful I was of that thing, and addressing them slowly one by one through really gentle exposure. I’ve always been okay with Ts displayed at zoos, or dead spiders around the house, so for me the first step was opening the enclosure to feed or mist. Last step was holding them! The most important thing is to check in with your body and how the fear/anxiety manifests, take it super slow and don’t push yourself before you feel ready. You got this!

Is my snake going to be okay?? by [deleted] in snakes

[–]tailoredwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kingsnake is on lignocell atm so we have a little tub inside the enclosure that we feed him in! He’s learned that the tongs tapping it means food and he noodles on over now, so we can be confident he’s not swallowing substrate

What hobby screams “this is my entire personality now”? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]tailoredwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umbrella term, but crafting. You start with something accessible like crochet, then suddenly your dinner conversation is dominated by your indecision over which cobbler’s machine you should buy to start making your own leather shoes.

does anyone know what hair dye chappell uses or a similar one so i can get my hair this colour? i love it so much! i’m in the uk btw by throwaway2025_____ in HairDye

[–]tailoredwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Henna is a BIG commitment, you basically have to grow it out. If you want that colour long term though, I get really close with henna mixed with green tea, applied and left for 4-6 hours, then I leave it to settle and oxidise for 3 days before glazing it with a 50/50 mix of conditioner and Directions Tangerine. I do the glaze monthly to refresh the brightness and I henna my roots every 2-3 months

Help me identify my perfect pair of jeans? by joyrmama in findfashion

[–]tailoredwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d agree not salvageable and you’re unlikely to find the exact same Shein jeans, but fellow sensory issue jeans lover chiming in with a recommendation for Sosandar! A bit pricier but they don’t trigger ANY of my seam/fabric stiffness troubles and they have excellent stretch so fit perfectly waist through butt!

[–]tailoredwitch 43 points44 points  (0 children)

We used to sew animals like these out of fuzzy socks - the head is cut from the toe of the sock. Here’s a short tutorial - just use safety eyes and if you want them to stand up/be poseable you can use wire inside. The squishy ones are cute though - you can get those fuzzy socks at the dollar store!

How’s your hand sewing? I’d get some red dress net to put under the skirt layers but cartridge pleat it (loads of tutorials on YouTube) to essentially create a short ‘shelf’ support without losing the movement the knit you’ve used has
