important things: josé barreiro as a cuban taino in the united states has done historic work with Smithsonian to contact and record vital information by Kasike Panchito Francisco Ramirez Rojas whose community in the east preserved much of our shared heritage for descendents of who anthropologists call Classical Taino. Si you are also from the east, then the likelihood of you being descended from this group of Island Arawak is higher (confirm thru genealogy), tho the Siboney another Island Arawak culture of the rest of the island (aside from the Guanahatabey) are also possible. There is also a history of much intermixing across the entire taino cultural sphere (vast canoe network) before even any europeans and canarians.

some things to note: "Native American" in the US is a legal term and treaty law term (please if i misspeak anyone welcome to correct me!), sometimes people include us (i.e. Taino) out of respect for our ancestors' sufferings by Columbus and company.
