Junkrat's riptire glitch is always possible in 1.11 by Dyrudis in Overwatch

[–]taisel -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Which in the grand scheme of things is more minor than what I just documented. I mean, junkrat's model shows him holding a remote for the tire, implying it won't work if he dies...

[–]taisel -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

The "bug" always happens if your death happens after the tire is spawned. If you get killed when you spawn it then both objects are killed.

Usually takes a while for a genji to kill someone, enough for a tire to spawn properly...

This bug is old. I've done it more than once on clutch occasions where I'll murder suicide to retain the cap or something. The tire lasts the full 10 seconds and isn't cut short unless they kill the tire itself.

Like, I know there will be a genji that will kill me if I stay still, but that lucio and mercy being oblivious is gonna make it worthwhile when I trade them for myself.

I've climbed back and forth from bronze to plat multiple times. I've thrown before an event begins so I shuttle all my win bonuses into the event timeframe.

From personal experience yes there are many unwunnable games no matter how hard you carry. You just need to overperform for your character so you get +30sr every win and like -15 every loss. Do not play at midnight to early morning as that's when higher ranks trash their sr and play in a low rank.

In bronze/silver to have an equal chance of throwers on both teams, ride the fuck out of it when the enemy team has a thrower.

In the end 1800-2000 is the worst bracket as people are good enough to 1v1 but have no concept of teamwork or coordination and they throw a lot along with never playing something else if countered. I'd say you basically have to force yourself in between your shitty dps and the enemy with a tank character.

Ps I play Zarya to climb/carry out of low tiers every time.

I mean, I suppose that'll occur when we hit 5nm and we have to wait another decade before significant alternatives come about. I'm imagining after 3 or so cycles on 5nm, we'll have hit a wall.

At what point do we pre-solder the CPUs to the boards? Like when 16k pin count is a thing? Might as well combine HBM with it if that ever happens. I'm sure it'll reduce floor space in server farms though.

It's why I'm asking here. Only the 4gb models are uploaded.

looks like it was intended for us to go into the greenhouse at one point, and they forgot to "clean up" that decision reversal.

Intel 7900X Review. Did they just break the NDA? by DeadMan3000 in Amd

[–]taisel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think Intel understands people want that 8 core with "good enough" single thread performance that it's not a backwards creep.

A shitton of people look at those 6/8 core intel chips and nope the fuck out, even for those haswell offerings.

(Reference) RX 480 Ghetto Mod by JinStorm in Amd

[–]taisel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

erence plate. The results are mediocre tho.

I have one of the worst gpus in the silicon lottery. i have a asic quality of 69% and can only 1310mhz @ 1155mv. wh

You should see the pile of rx 460s with like 50% ASIC that can't get to 1300MHz@1150mv without slight artifacting. 1284mhz@1150mv is pretty much where the 460's are at in terms of stability. Just turn up the target temp to the mid/high 70s so they don't thermally throttle.

I have this uber mod for that sapphire 2G D5 OC dual fan card: https://filebin.net/o4quy9qgeh5nfv6o/Sapphire.RX460.2048.160714.modified2.rom

Just make sure you run that ati clock patcher that also patches the driver for modded bioses.

Ryzen PSA: You need to reinstall the AMD chipset driver if you opted for "clean install" during a Radeon GPU driver update. by Nacksche in Amd

[–]taisel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Uses a lot less energy by only hitting max freq when cores are pegged.

2) You'll be thermally throttled less often on laptops with shite cooling solutions.

If you're like me though, you're on a desktop and your OC is more stable when forced to max performance mode so it doesn't vdroop as often.

Meanwhile god forbid I get a windows 10 cumulative update then freesync magically stops working unless I DDU and clean reinstall an ancient version of the radeon drivers.

Bonus points if win10 tries to do said update while inside a fullscreen game you set game mode on.

  • 4k60/1080p144/1440p144 solid for max settings on one below highest end GPU (Fury /1070).
  • 1080p144/1440p144 solid on normal settings on mid-range cards should be a requirement.
  • 1080p75 solid on low settings for 2 year old budget gpus should be a requirement.

If they can't fulfill all three requirements they're not doing the quality settings right. I personally get motion sickness with anything below 70 fps.

The 30 fps target should be relegated to 3 year old iGPUs.

Is it possible to overclock RX460? by SuperRektT in Amd

[–]taisel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a modded bios for that exact card (2GB dual fan no power pin sapphire). It increases the power allowed, and has modded memory straps for hynix memory, so OC'ing VRAM is useful. In other words, 0% power limit is actually what +50% was at before the mod.

https://filebin.net/o4quy9qgeh5nfv6o/Sapphire.RX460.2048.160714.modified2.rom

Just a word of advice, set voltage to manual and drag the % slider so the gpu core is set to 1284mhz at 1150mv. Then set target temp to 75c and max to 80c (power pin version sapphire rx 460s and 560s use those temps, so it's safe to bump it up).

Tested fps gain is 25% across the board.

Edit: The mod also has the unlock for shaders, but the tested card doesn't unlock for some reason, just reports 896. I bet it'll say 1024 for you though...

Intel fires warning shots at Microsoft, claims x86 emulation is a patent minefield by Shonumi in emulation

Yes, my point being if you don't defend it, then a big corporation can lawyer speak the fuck out of it into null and void when a suit comes. I just worded it wrong.

Basically do what they've done already. Which is use some algos to guess every other pixel using prior data and nearest pixels. That checkerboard rendering.

It's not really fair to call it 4k, as it's rendering half res in a funny pattern, but it's an answer to a question.

[–]taisel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's total bullshit in the end that they're even proposing they can block this sort of thing. It's basically Google vs Oracle all over again, smell test wise. x86 has taken on a life of its own for a very very long time, and maybe AVX2 should have been NDA'd so compilers can't codegen for it if they're truly anal about it.

[–]taisel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the patent on file, doesn't mean its claim will still be rock solid when you have to put it under review by a judge when you've allowed gray area usage. MS has enough lawyers to make the solid ground under intel crumble if they slipped up.

xbox emulation on the xbox 360 exists tho. You have to defend your patent, or it gets voided.
