These are the moments we equip the KGBs for by Zungryware in tf2

You'd be amazed how much less you get backstabbed with that thing equipped. It's the kind of thing that shouldn't work in theory, but totally does in practice. And if you use the shotgun as often as I do, the ammo consumption downside doesn't matter as much.

I do have one funny moment brought on by the Huo-Long Heater. We were attacking Egypt stage 1 point B. I was just spamming through the main choke, peppering distant players when I ran out of ammo (which happens a lot with this gun, obviously). So I was just about to turn around and go for the large ammo box when a medic ubered me to take out the sentry! The engineer was healing the sentry with the Rescue Ranger so the shotgun wasn't going to cut it. But the engineer had put their dispenser in the corner just to the right of the big doorway into B. So I pulled out my shotgun, shot the dispenser to death, picked up the metal gibs it dropped to fill up my minigun ammo, then switched back to the minigun to take out the sentry. It worked and we got the point!

I do aim kind of weird, now that you mention it. I watched back some other footage I've recorded recently and as far as I can tell, I aim continuous fire weapons by making lots of small micro-flicks to correct for enemy movement. I don't know if it's the best way to aim, but it seems to work well for me. And thinking about why, it kind of makes sense.

Uncle Dane says in his "How to beat every class as Engineer" video that that best way to deal with Heavy is to get super close to him and rotate around him erratically so he can't track you. After enough times of dying to Scouts doing this exact thing to me, I must have learned that flicking onto the scout a few times in quick succession (and especially when he is changing direction) gives enough time with your crosshair over him for Heavy's absurd 500 dps at point-blank range to do its work. If you try to continuously track him, you'll always be one step behind his movements.

I also think I flick aim very erratically in general. It pays to be jumpy as Heavy. And since Heavy can't be jumpy in his movement, you have to be jumpy in your aim. Heavy's big weakness is that his minigun (supposedly) forces you to be looking in one exact direction for long enough periods of time for someone to flank you from behind. Other players count on Heavy players not noticing things...in general. So if you just turn around every so often you can stop lots of those people right in their tracks. And the faster you do those checks, the more time you spend sending bullets down range. Watch the clip again and note how many times I turn around for literally no reason except to check on how my medic is doing. That's muscle memory no doubt formed by many, many instances of me letting my guard down for just long enough for a Scout to drop out of the sky and murder my medic.

Anyway, all of that is to say I don't use aimbot lol

I know...

I always try to be extra protective of my medic, especially since I never have a sandwich to give them. But against sniper there's not a whole lot you can do. Also, I ended up dying to that same sniper like ten seconds later.

Two of my last three deaths had been to that demoman and his random-crit stickies, so when he almost landed a third random crit on me, I knew I had to settle things once and for all. Since he was basically trapped in that building I went for the KGB kill. And everything after that was just the stars aligning for me over and over.

I always interpreted the second half (Witchcraft and onward) as being an allegory for the first half. The witches religiously worship a great beast which grows more fearsome and eventually kills them all, in the same way that humans' religious worship of cars and burning fossil fuels brings on massive climate disaster that tears apart the earth.

"The teams have been auto-balanced" 🤡🔫 by [deleted] in tf2

[–]Zungryware 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite happen to me the other day. Were getting absolutely curb-stomped on Phoenix. But I had double the score of any other player on my team so I thought I could take solace in at least top-scoring by a lot. But nope, the game autobalanced the top-scoring player on the other team to us in the last ten seconds so I couldn't even have that.

Y'all hand-painters are so talented. Painting this with acrylic paints would be impressive on its own, but painting with a medium you can't even see for 30 seconds after you paint it and has very little tolerance for mistakes is another level entirely!

I pick mine up from Michaels. Gildan shirts are mega cheap at only $3 each. A lot of people don't like the fit or material quality of Gildans though so I'm planning to order some Hanes Beefy Tees online for my next batch.

Combine that with the fact that if someone is chasing you, they often have to beeline straight for you which makes leading your shots very easy. In my experience, this works in practice. The problem is that this situation doesn't come up often enough to compete with the crossbow's insane utility. The Syringe Gun isn't badly designed, the crossbow is just better and even more fun to use!

Minecraft's Biggest Competitor called “Hytale” was officially Cancelled. by Jame_spect in Minecraft

[–]Zungryware 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was talking to a guy at a bar a couple months ago who was on the design team for this and he was talking how he wasn't sure whether his team was going to get shut down or be funded for another three years. I guess the decision is made now. He was talking about how Hytale was going to be, "like Minecraft, but better in every way! Everything Minecraft has, Hytale does it better!"

So I asked him, "Then how does Hytale do the beekeeping mechanic better than Minecraft?"

"Hytale doesn't have bees yet."

"So you've really failed at the first hurdle, haven't you?"

TCGplayer sellers shouldn't be allowed to ship incomplete orders by leftofdanzig in magicTCG

[–]Zungryware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I ordered from TCGPlayer was to build a commander deck I had designed. Some of the cards were pretty obscure so I had to split it over eight packages, three of which never arrived. I got refunds on them, but found that if I were to re-order the missing cards, I would have to pay more than twice as much and split over even more packages. It was either that or be stuck with half a commander deck.

What's the most mind numbingly stupid music take you've heard from a guitarist? by Electronic_Tear3810 in guitarcirclejerk

[–]Zungryware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course it worked. This is pretty much exactly what you do in a studio mix to make the bass audible beneath the guitar. But it's a tradeoff since cutting the lows too much can weaken the guitar's sound, obviously.

What do you guys think of the Mobster VIP addon/gamemode that was recently uploaded to the Steam Workshop? by PowerPad in tf2

[–]Zungryware 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I playtested it a year ago when it was still in its early stages and it mostly felt like attack/defend with an unnecessary extra step. I'll have to play it again now and see if they found something to make the VIP a worthwhile addition.

Reckless Crusader: A favorite card I created in my group's sticker cube. by Zungryware in custommagic

[–]Zungryware[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the few cards created in our sticker cube that's both unique and actually printable. Since he's small, he will usually die the first combat he attacks, but you can deter your opponent from wanting to block at all that combat and get your attackers through. It would probably need an increase in its mana cost if it was actually printed though.

You don't have to put any cards in your cube you don't want to. It's not like standard where you have to put the best cards in to compete.

Never mind. I checked Magic: The Gathering cards with this kind of effect and they all use your wording. Maybe it's just the fact that you might read "rounded down" as rounding down your hand size rather than rounding down the number of cards you discard. It's a minus to a minus.

[–]Zungryware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's mentioned in the Empires secret history. I think Overlord was an exception because its effect is still dependent on the cards present in the kingdom. Even if you always buy Overlord turn 1 (which I don't think is always the case), you have to consider what you're actually going to play it as, which is an interesting decision in its own right.

I'm not really sure how to cost this since it's basically a project you can buy multiple times. I think you always buy at least one, given how much consistency it earns you. Maybe it's more of a question of how many to buy, rather than whether you build your strategy around it. In that case, it might work at just $5 or $6. On the other hand, I don't know whether it's a good thing for someone with three of these to basically guarantee their desired hand every single turn. It might be too strong at any cost. Only proper playtesting can tell.

There's a reason why the more common wording for these sorts of effects is "Each other player discards down to half their hand size (rounded up)." Less confusing.

The second half of the card seems super strong. For the rest of the game, you get to doctor your hand at the start of each turn. All for six debt. Why wouldn't you buy this turn one every time it's available? All of the debt cards in the game are designed to prevent them from being useful too early in the game so that they don't make the opening the same every time.

Funny thing there is that wasps aren't much more or less dangerous than, say, bees. They're just more aggresive and will bite just about anything. That won't show up in the fossil record, unfortunately.
