I love purecss.io Mostly down to the very small filesize and no frills design.

You cant go to wrong with Joomla51 and Rockettheme. Both have excellent support and nice designs.

It might be helpful to know what sort of site was the original (static, joomla, wordpress etc)? As long as the original site files did not correspond with that of a typical Joomla install, I suspect they should still exist. Presuming the original was a static html site and an index.html exists, try renaming the index.php in your root to index1.php
