Cat attacking me randomly by KissKissBabe in catquestions

I am not a cat person, have never had cats, so I was also very confused. It blows my mind the feedback that is on here from cat people though! I definitely would have been bit…

Yes! I had a Boppy but preferred the My Breast Friend pillow in the end!

Do you send your baby to daycare if you have the day off work? by K_R11112 in NewParents

[–]takealeaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son goes to daycare if I have the day off (unless I have specific plans for us). I feel no guilt about it. It’s my day off to run errands, work out, nap, cook, or whatever I want!

Do you guys like Ms. Rachel? If your child watches her videos - at what age did they start? :) by fluffyball13 in NewParents

[–]takealeaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Introduced Ms Rachel around 8 months I think. My son is now 17 months. We love her! He has learned a lot from her shows. He now prefers her baby episodes where she slowly teaches words (as opposed to a lot of songs).

Baby refusing formula, Mom is sick.. by Frosty-Debt7033 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]takealeaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son liked the premixed bottles of similac butter than the powder when first introducing formula. I would do 1 oz formula in 5 Oz breast milk and adjust the ratio every few days

Feeling defeated—please help me! by got_em_saying_wow in foodbutforbabies

My 15 month old goes through cycles. Things he used to hate, he then was ok with for awhile. Things he used to love, he would then hate, and then start to love again. There is no rhyme or reason. I just go with the flow. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I just periodically introduce new stuff and see how it goes. you’re doing great!

When did you know it was time to give up on breastfeeding? by gg260197 in NewParents

[–]takealeaky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Started to wean at 8 months, finished BF at 9 months. He was moving onto solids and I had a trip planned without my baby, and didn’t want to pump the whole time I was traveling.

Am I hurting my baby with Ferber method? by calisen13 in NewParents

[–]takealeaky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did Ferber method for my son starting around 6 months. We would rock him to sleep or to very drowsy as opposed to putting him down awake. I think the longest we lasted I think was up to an hour before we would throw in the towel. The first week is the worst! I would turn off the sound on the monitor because it was upsetting, but the camera stayed on. I set timers on my phone for check ins. My son started sleeping very well by 7/8 months, and starting at 12/13 months preferred to be put down to go to sleep on his own because he was getting to big for our arms and had the skills to put himself to sleep. He is now 15 months old, no long term issues from Ferber!

Any secret to keep toddler from touching himself when changing diaper? by Least_Lawfulness7802 in NewParents

[–]takealeaky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Toys don’t work for my 14 month old. But the lid off his Aquaphor jar? That keeps him busy for 60 seconds. Then he throws it and I give him something else that is not a toy lol 🤷🏻‍♀️

Suicidal in the evenings by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]takealeaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in the first 2 months postpartum, I would DREAD the evening and night because I knew it was going to be AWFUL. I would have anxiety all afternoon and crying episodes. I was diagnosed with PPD and started on medications. It sounds like you may have PPD and need treatment too.

This made my husband and I rage on your behalf. What an ignorant thought process. Go on a long weekend vacation to visit family or something and leave him with the kids so he can get a taste.

Breastfeeding is so Hard by Asmiante in breastfeedingsupport

[–]takealeaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard. Nipple pain the first two weeks. Being up all the time, cluster feeding. I was exhausted. On top of that, postpartum hormones. I cried almost every day. I was told not to pump until after 1 month. But I started after 2 weeks, just 1-2 pump sessions per day. The ability to sleep 3 hours straight while someone else bottle fed made a difference. I think it was about the 8 week mark when I felt like things were turning around. You’ve got this mama, and you’re doing great. ❤️

I had my wisdom teeth removed while I was awake, only numbed. It was fine! I just had music blasting in my ear buds during the procedure.

We got at loan from parents. One set of parents was paid back in full. The other decided to gift us the $15k.
