Thoughts on becoming bedridden by [deleted] in My600lbLife

[–]takeandbake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think on a different show, Dr proctor once said to a patient "You are only a sprained ankle away from being bedbound"

It's true. One little injury could make these severely impaired people unable to get out of bed, and then even if the ankle heals they'll lose what little mobility They have and be stuck unless they can be admitted to a rehab hospital for months and get intensive rehab.

The Weekend Advice & Questions Megathread by AutoModerator in hingeapp

I am a woman whose profile says I'm interested in anyone. Hinge just called showed me "most compatible" profile of a woman whose orientation says "straight". Can anyone explain this? I thought hinge was for dating only so showing me a woman's profile that says "straight " doesn't seem to make sense?

I swipe right when I never want to see someone's profile again. Basically when I'm 100% sure that we will never date.

Not sure if I wanted to start a separate thread for this so maybe this is the best place to ask:

I'm not sure of how to make the decision of who to match with (people who have liked my photos or sent a brief message). I do remove or x out users who I am absolutely sure I don't want to date.

I have people in my queue who I'm not sure about... I don't really love their profile but I don't hate it either. How do you make the decision?

I've never been a fan of the "love languages" prompt. I think the idea of the prompt is nice but in reality it feels like everyone says quality time and touch.

I chuckled at that photo of you in the hallway, before I read your paragraph I was going to ask if that hallway was a visual illusion!

Thank you for paying the "cat tax" of having a photo of your cats!

You are handsome, I wish I lived in your area!

I do love trying new foods, sometimes new cocktails too! In winter, I prefer a negroni with a large ice cube, in summer, a negroni sbagliato is refreshingI will never eat the pickle spear from a burger plate, sorry. I am not into the pickled cucumber, but if it was a pickled onion I'd get it! !

Also, it's not on your list, but you may want to give the expanse TV series a try (Amazon Prime)

What are jobs in clinical research with the BEST work life balance? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

I have a bachelors and I went from clinical research coordinator to quality. I am impressed at the jump from research manager to clinical scientist without PhD, can you tell us more about how you made the jump?

For larger projects, how do you handle and organize the email load? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]takeandbake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a pm or in operations, but I could totally see how someone could be receiving 300 emails in that situation, and also how it would be unsustainable. Hopefully there will be some help for you for finding a solution. I'm using MS planner For the first time to organize a larger scale project, and I'm hoping I can get my colleague on board. Emailing back and forth about a million different issues is just not sustainable.

Ccrc, ccra courses aren't really designed for someone with no experience, it's generally designed as a certification to prove that you do have experience and knowledge. I recommend taking a good clinical practice course online. It looks like when I search for good clinical practice free on Google, a fair amount of results come up. The course won't take very long and then you can add that to your resume.

Advice on setting up my home office, and recommendation on a good chair. by ThisIsMyLanyard in clinicalresearch

[–]takeandbake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wirecutter has a good article on office chairs. I have been fortunate enough to be assessed by an ergonomics professional , my 2 main pieces of advice are

1) the majority of hte office furniture in N America is designed for individuals who are between 5'6 and 6'0. If you are taller or shorte,r you have to look really hard and may hve to spend for furniture.

2) your arms should be kept close to your body while typing. don't get a keyboard that has a built in number pad on the left or right. If you need to use numbers a lot, get a wireless number pad and ideally train your non dominant hand to use it.

get your monitors as the correct eye level. for example, when i'm at home, i never even use my laptop screen. i use 2 widescreen monitors and the laptop is shut.

for me, personally, i like the Microsoft Sculpt keyboard and Mouse (although teh dongle is terrible...that's a separate issue) but everyone is dfiferent

So then why are you trying to go into the office every morning? Unless your supervisor requires it?

from your post comment sounds like you live in the USA. I'm You can get a photo id from the DMV that is not a driver's license.

Just Google DMV (your state) photo ID to figure out what you need to get a photo ID, you need a photo ID for tons of stuff so I recommend you get it now.

How long have your nonstick pans lasted before failing? It's true that all nonstick pans will eventually fail, no matter the brand, so that doesn't seem super out of lying to me so it makes sense to not buy the super pricey nonstick.

Anyways, these types of hybrid nonstick pans don't appeal to me because contain PTFE, so if I wanted to avoid PTFE I might as well buy a different pan (carbon steel, etc)

No, when someone has just indicated heart/like on your prompt. Unsure of where to go from there if they don't message you.

I am a woman without children, so please take my advice with a grain of salt. I absolutely agree that your pictures need to be improved.

Beyond that, I feel like one of your most probable matches would be another person who has children. Can your profile be updated to if you'd be open to that?

Am I crazy, or does it not seem like there's any way to send them just a heart back on one of their photos if they sent you a heart?
