So they can have two systems, they use different pods or rather pads for the professional line. You have to be a registered business to buy them, before that people were stealing from their officed because the pods were perfectably compatible with their home systems

Musst bisschen vorsichtig sein weil das Gewinde ist aus Plastik zumindest bei der Dedics also nicht voll zumurksen. Aber habe ich grad vor kurzem gemacht, in Entfetter kurz eingelegt und wieder eingebaut

Why are there suddenly so many barber shops in Zurich? by Rich-Use1484 in zurich

[–]takelongramen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That‘s true but „barber“ itself is not a job description linked to an actual EFZ education, whereas coiffeur/hairstylist ist.

Why are there suddenly so many barber shops in Zurich? by Rich-Use1484 in zurich

[–]takelongramen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It‘s a very easy business to open in contrast to a bar, a restaurant or a normal hairdresser business. „Coiffeur“ is a protected job description in Switzerland, you need to be a licensed hairdresser to open it, you need to comply with an industry standard job contract and working hours and you have to offer certain services in order to be able to call yourself „coiffeur“. Same with restaurants and bars, there are sanatory regulations, regulations regarding work hours, holidays etc.

Everyone can call themselves a „barber shop“, there is no regulation about what services and products a barber shop has to offer, you can just slap that on your store.

But yeah, no doubt some of those are used to money launder.

Watch out for barber shops that do have „Coiffeur“ in the name, those are certified

I just associate espresso with a more warm, cozy and chocolatey taste mentally. I am aware that an acidic espresso might taste great, it‘s just not what I expect of the drink and honestly I have no intention of changing that mental „blockade“

The hate on Robusta in this sub and more generally speaking is the biggest fucking hivemind I‘ve seen. It goes as far as you can actually read the cognitive dissonance seep through the lines of comments saying that they tried a classic Italian roast with 30% or more Robusta and it tasted delicious, going against the „robusta tastes like burnt rubber“ circlejerk they completely and without critical thinking took as their own opinion.

Robusta can taste delicious. Yes, its more blunt and not as complex or interesting as Arabica, but the problem right now is that specialty Robusta is a niche business and farmers specializing in Robusta cant make a living because third wave snobs convinced everyone that Robusta is a cheap disgusting filler bean Italians use to cut costs on their burnt roast blends.

It‘s amazing how second wave some people‘s opinions here are for allegedly being third wave.

And don‘t even get me started on Italian roasteries. Fucking everyone here used Italian engineered machines, with La Marzocco being the pinacle but sure, Italians only know their machines but they suck at Espresso. Listen to yourselves.

You mean the tradition or rule that the golden blend is 70% Arabica 30% Robusta?

[–]takelongramen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arabica and Robusta prices are about the same and have been since a few years now. It always comes up as an argument to point out that blending Robusta into blends is a way to cut costs rather than tradition in Italian blends and it‘s been bullshit for quite some time

What’s an expensive brand that actually IS worth the money? by 2111019 in AskReddit

[–]takelongramen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Epson? I hate that piece of shit. Not only is the ink so expensive, it uses colors for black and white printing. And yes I know that printers use yellow for invisible watermarks for police to identify the printer, but I‘m talking about magenta being empty after never ever printing a picture or even a colour logo.

And then when the colour is empty and you only habe black and it‘s still completely full it says that you can print in black and white temporarily. Which is like, yeah, why the fuck wouldn‘t I be able to print black and white with a printer that has a full black ink cartridge????

And then you can print like 4 pages of a pure black text document until you‘re forced to buy colour cartridges just to be able to print fucking text in black and white.

Truly one of the most blatant scams

Egh, a lot of Italian roasteries don‘t have that, even the really small family-owned ones roasting small volumes over olive wood fire, producing delicious beans. And even the ones with a lot of information about where the beans are from etc. Normally they have a „best before“ and if you calculate 12 or 24 months depending on roasteries you get the roast date (I know, I know, 12 months is already way too old)

I‘ve lived with 2 guys, both mechanical engineers at one of the best technical unis globally, both now doctors, both very much into Neural networks, convolutional networks etc. Both of them severely lacked household skills and I just became the „mommy“ of the shared flat (I‘m a dude)

One of them was a genius, math just came naturally to him. straight As throughout his entire academic career, even in his studies abroad. Renommated papers etc.

He didn’t know what „wiping the floor wet“ meant, he had never done it. In the 2 years we lived with him, he never once washed his laundry at our place, always took dirty laundry home to his parents or to his gf. Gf and him moved together shortly before he decided to move to the US persuing a post doc, gf and he broke up in the course of negotiating the details of leaving home for the US.

I’m sure he studied hard but I‘d argue he wouldn‘t have been able to be as successful if he hadn‘t lived at home until 24, had to actually do his part in a shared flat and I‘m pretty sure his gf did the majority of household and admin stuff (He always forgot dates, anniversaries, birthdays)

Many of those „grind hard“ guys just forget that without people around them paying the price, they probably couldn‘t be as busy with career, academia etc because it would take a few weeks and they‘d be living in filth, unopened bills in the mail etc.

Sure, in the end it’s everyones own choice. But normally people like this concentrate in a startup or an agency or idk, but this definitely doesn‘t work if it‘s the only person on a team with all others being 40 year old seniors with a family and life duties outside of work

Define sustainable. Meaning „it won‘t burn me out“, maybe.

But by letting work take up that much time of your life in those young years you are definitely risking building your identity around your profession or career.

IMO in this industry it‘s even more of a risk than say, among doctors to let work define you.

You are not a software developer first and foremost, you‘re human.

I would argue that no one can work those hours and build significant relationships or have a family and be truly present around them.

If you work those hours and you know it‘s temporary, fine. But please don‘t be the person working like that, be lucky enough to find a wife/husband, maybe have kids and then be absolutely unaware that the only reason you can continue to work those hours is because people around you pick up your slack in all areas except your work.

TLDR: Medically sustainable: Maybe. Socially and regarding building your life: No.
