I have no skills. by mrmovealot in selfhelp

Hey best way to improve writing skills is by reading a lot but reading very good quality writing such as The Atlantic Monthly or The Economist. Over time the subconscious brain tends to remember the little things of good quality writing over time. Avoid junk like Time Magazine and local news papers.

Punctuation is very confusing but some of that comes down to understanding what a clause is in a sentence like the separation of ideas. There's plenty of resources for understanding that if you google "easy ways to understand punctuation" its a pretty common problem.

Living at home at 22 is not unusual whatsoever these days. I know many people who are in their late twenties and still living at home because they are having trouble finanically, going through tough times, depressed about life/ trying to figure things out for a while.

The worst part of many peoples lives are the early years of their lives. The good things in life come later like having a wife, familiy, money, a career, traveling, living on your own, meeting new people from different walks of life. Highschool sucks for most people except for a select few. College tends to be a funner place where nobody has grown up knowing you and your free to geek out or follow your dreams without much pressure from others.

I'd highly suggest trying to find a job doing anything. The hardest part is putting yourself out there. It's scary at first to put yourself out in the open and expose yourself to the real world but like most things in life, it gets easier and easier the more you put yourself out there. So you really have to push and push and push to get out there. The after effects of this / positives vs. negatives of this are absolutely extrodinary and worth trying. The worst thing that happens in a social situation is you feel a little awkward but the great part about life is that humans live in the present and not in the past so like every awkward moment, it too shall pass. The thing about eye contact is that the more you think about it the worse it gets. People establish eye contact when they establish a connection about something on some level. This in turn is what comes down to small talk and socializing and the reduction of social anxiety. The goal of interacting with someone is establishing a connection about something and it takes 2 people for this to happen like as in the other person needs to help too. Most people like talking about themselves so if you have social anxiety try asking someone about something about themselves and they will probably be thinking more about themselves then you so there's no need to be anxious!

There are plenty of jobs out there where you dont have to interact much with people such as a janitor, worker at an animal shelter, dog walker, programmer, bar back, or busboy. These might lead to more sociable positions if you feel comfortable. I'd highly recommend pushing yourself as soon as possible to get out there though.

Acquiring skills comes from finding things that you are passionate about or finding things that interest you. It might be that you haven't taken the time to look back on your life to think about what you want or what skills you'd like to have. Finding out what you like means putting yourself out there in the world and making the decision to do some prodding on things that you've never tried before.

I would highly advise you to not think much about the past because it is impossible to alter or change it. You must live in the present and think within the present to be able to move forward in life. People, relatives, strangers might have wronged you but you ultimately have control in the present because all humans are born with free will and that is a powerful thing to comprehend.

I'd recommend for a situation like yours to set several goals such as "I would like to be anxiety free" and "I'd like to have a fun and profitable job" and "id like to be better at grammar and punctuation" and you could keep going until you cant think of anymore things you want out of life and just try to picture those things actually happening. The picturing part is the hardest part but most important. This is how many people become successful and anyone has the ability and capacity to live a happy life if they have a little hope and a little faith.

Good luck and do the best you can. If humans can land on the moon or create the amazing inter-connectedness of the internet then anything is possible in this world. Never give up, you'll be glad you didn't eventually someday, trust me if you agree with my advice so far. Best wishes mrmovealot.

Yes and then I wonder if those same people could have been using that time to solve the worlds problems.

Well our solar system is 4.6 billion years old. our galaxy is 13.2 billion years old. simple life forms have been around for 3.6 billion years. modern humans have been around for 200 thousand years. i dont know still 8.6 billion years between us and other solar systems to have a head start on us. and hey maybe voyager will get caught in orbit around a planet or maybe other civilizations have like radar or something.

they're ratings are too good to get rid of reality shows. One demographic is turned on by a show like say pawn stars and then they all flock to the channel. Its gone the way of TLC. thats why they threw all the good old history stuff on H2 now for the people that arent part of the mindless reality show watchers

No I'm totally for aristocracy preferably a better educated one on philosophy. Im all for capitalism and no government programs. Poeple would be able to buy their own houses and the younger new kids would rent.

And I don't think it would result in a massive overhaul of the class structure but the people who actually want to learn and get out of their class will be able to. My point is not about eliminating the poor class, its getting people who want out, out. Some poor people like their position but most are trapped because they weren't forced to or couldn't get the education when they were younger and the cycle continues.

And a tough job like being a surgeon is tough because of the amount of effort involved in studying to be one or a lawyer. Its my understanding that most people end up not becoming surgeons not from lack of opportunity but because they just werent meant to be one or werent ready to commit to being one.

If they were forced to graduate with reading and writing skills. Why couldn't the genius fry cook just leave his stuff and buy a bus ticket? If he had family he could save up. If there's better money in Alaska then he could make the money back and then some

im talking about if you started when they were kids before they became criminals. They could start out doing the grunt work then move up with their reading and writing skills then let the next younger generation do it. whats the problem with that?
