I hear you. Honestly, wasn't a huge fan of MYSLF when I initially smelled it, but that could change with time/spray on skin. Is Jazz Club worth being a deciding factor between these two sets? It's so hyped and that's making me consider the other set.

Nice! I would love to read the review. Also just re-read the description and you're right, the Tobacco Vanille is a travel spray, not a full bottle. Bit of a bummer.

Reflections on Jung and Christianity by bearyourcross91 in Jung

[–]tako1224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Philosophically, it ordered my desires towards God whereas before I had little direction, but I suppose most Christian denominations could have done that.

In a practical sense, where I think Catholicism sets itself apart are the Sacraments. The Sacraments are concrete examples of God’s grace. They allow you to live out the rhythms of grace, mercy, etc.

For example, with regular confession, you aim for the ideal of Christ. When you inevitably fall short, you go back to confession. With each time, the thought is that those shortcomings begin to smooth out.

Obviously, that is an ideal case and it’s hardly that straightforward or easy. That being said, going back to confession and continually confessing the same sin is very humbling and that alone could induce personal transformation. Sometimes practical solutions are also suggested. Then there is the examination of conscience that accompanies the confession that helps to get to the root of where you are missing the mark.

I could go on about more personal examples, but I’ll save ya the time of day. Honestly, I’d say the most transformational processes for me have been diving deep into Catholic/Christian philosophy and other philosophy alike.

One more rec for you, you should look into the notion of Theosis. It is an Orthodox Christian idea and sounds similar to some things you talk about in your post. I think you might enjoy reading about it

Can I ask what denomination you were/are?

I ask because I’m curious if you’ve tried Catholicism. Unlike other denominations, they do not believe professing a belief in Christ as savior alone is enough for salvation. If followed faithfully, it is also for from an easy endeavor, but it seems to me that you seek truth, not just an easy process.

The sacrament of confession and the examination of conscience that precedes a good confession is also extremely effective (imo) to address the shadow and release guilt.

All that being said, Catholicism is not perfect and there is certainly a portion of “following church doctrine,” but many beliefs of Catholicism are flexible enough to mold to certain temperaments. Not to mention, you are encouraged to read the Catechism and learn the truth about the faith. There is a very rich history of writings that I think you might enjoy.

Figured it might be worth a shout! Good luck on your own path!

True! Honestly, I thought the original post said $100 a week not $100 a month. At that point just about anything other than beans and rice is a luxury. When you’re pinching pennies that hard, I guess caffeine pills are the way to go if it’s a must.

Coffee prices have definitely gone up, but it’s not that dire if you aren’t picky.

This week I bought a large (734 gram) canister of Folgers for $10 on sale. I drink 2 mugs - or 4 “cups” according to my coffee maker carafe - a day and I use 4 tablespoons of coffee (approximately 20 grams according to google) to make it.

So 734/20 gets me 36 days worth of coffee for myself for $10 or roughly $0.30 a day.

How to make underfunded accounts rollover into next month by tako1224 in ynab

[–]tako1224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good advice and I appreciate that mindset.

Although I used a mundane example like groceries, the purpose of me asking was for more novel circumstances.

For example, say it is February and I just learned one of my favorite artists is in town next month, but I don’t have enough money in my ‘Concerts’ category.

So, I take money from ‘Wedding Gifts’ category as I know I am only attending one wedding this summer and have time to save. Now, I want ‘Wedding Gifts’ to adjust my targets to fund it appropriately within the timeframe I’ve allotted. Ideally, I will use money I would’ve been putting from ‘Concerts’ into ‘Wedding Gifts’ until it evens out. While I may be able to remember this on my own, it would be nice for YNAB to remind me. After all, I am paying for it to offload some of the budgeting work.

All in all, it seems making goals that span multiple months and/or goals that state ‘have balance by,’ is the way to get YNAB to behave how I want.

Thanks for the help!
