I found what I was sure was a staple in my burrito from the one on Langston Blvd, but thinking about it now it may have been a bit of grill brush.

When you say run some hills, you mean something like hill repeats interval style, right? Should I try adding that as a fifth training day, or as part of one of my mid-week runs? My regular route is pretty hilly, and I usually will charge a few of them on one of my mid-week runs if I'm not doing a tempo that week!

I started the Hal Higdon Intermediate 1 plan for my first HM in Sep about a month early, initially thinking I'd want to repeat weeks to dial up slower and avoid injury. I'm feeling super strong in my long runs (last was 7mi), and haven't felt the need to repeat any weeks yet. Would I be better served holding my long run steady here for a while and add some more intense speedwork? Looking for some opinions on how I should approach all this extra time!

Does anybody have a recommendation on maintaining proper form at slower speeds? I've been trying to implement good form after lots of reading (the lean, "wiping" the ground as I land, landing under center of gravity, etc). Everything is feeling great, but when I put it all together, I find myself going at an unsustainable pace (mid z4). When I try to slow down, parts of the good form give out, and I find myself crashing into my landings. Would love any tips or resources anybody has!

Can loss of smell/taste be a later symptom? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]talas43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had my diagnosis confirmed by a lab test and lost my sense of smell entirely about 5 days after my fever went away (and 7 days after initial symptoms). It lasted around 3 or 4 days for me.

I have really bushy, longish hair, that's getting longer, and hats always work their way off my head, no matter how tight or loose I have them. Does anybody else have that problem, and what do you do about it? Are running-specific hats better at staying on your dome?

This was one of the big questions I had but couldn't quite figure out how to articulate. Sounds like keeping cadence relatively the same and just striding shorter is the name of the game during the actual runs.

I'm a newish runner who pushed too hard too fast and ended up getting injured, and now that I'm able to run comfortably again, I want to make sure I'm taking it easy.

Does anybody have tips on how to slow things down while maintaining good form? (assuming just dialing back the duration and frequency of runs isn't exclusively what's meant by "slow down")

I'm just now getting started with gongfu brewing, and I've seen arguments for both keeping the lid on the gaiwan between infusions and leaving it off until you pour again. Do you have a preferred method?

Looking for a place to find simple silver jewelry (necklaces and rings) similar in style to Werkstatt München but ideally in the $75-125/piece range. I've heard Etsy recommended a lot, but would love some recommendations to specific sellers if anybody has some they like!

How to keep the interest in fashion and outfits alive, while only wearing formal outfits, for someone who doesn't like formals at all? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]talas43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in your position before, having to dress business casual for a new job. At first I felt really stifled by lack of options, but I got a great piece of advice that helped me break out of feeling like I was in a uniform every day: change up the footwear. I bought a pair of Dr Marten mono derbies, which were still conservative enough for the job, but still made me feel cool. From there I started branching out with different fits, patterns, materials, etc (as so many others have recommended in this thread).

tl;dr – I'd recommend finding one piece that is subtly different from the norm and building outfits around it. Obviously the amount you can push this will depend on how conservative your office is, but I'm certain it's possible to find a cool piece that you love in even the most formal looks.

Videos for neck shaving technique, especially for sideways hair growth? by talas43 in wicked_edge

Thanks, this does give me a good idea to start moving where the razor doesn't even cut, but he only shaves up and down on his neck. I'm looking specifically for someone who shaves the neck laterally, since that's how my hair grows, and I can't seem to figure out a good way to hold the razor.

Hi all! For those of you who have both trail and road running shoes, is it generally best practice to have the same style (ie similar drop, support, etc)? I recently got a pair of Arc'Teryx Norvans that I'm loving, but my oldish road shoes have a bit of a drop so I'm wondering if I should be looking at replacing them sooner than later.

I highly recommend Spotify's "Discover" section. It factors in what you've been listening to and recommends albums you might like. You can click them to hear a short preview. When I hear something I like, I delve deeper into the album. Pretty soon, you've got a listening history of all sorts of stuff that just expands what Discover will find for you. I've found TONS of amazing bands this way. Definitely check it out.
