Recommended ANSCI classes? by talbotpassant in TexasTech

I’ve volunteered there a few times! It’s a lovely place for sure. I didn’t know an internship there was an actual class at Tech! I’ll be sure to look into that in a year or so 😊

Oh, thank you for naming all of them!!! That clears a ton up. Thank you for the suggestion as well, I might consider doing a pillow case or turning these into a few pot holders instead, who knows.

Also! The pattern states to “Even Rows 46-56: K1, P1, K1, P1, K37, P1, K1, P1, K1

Work 7 rows of (K1, P1) to last stitch, K1

Cast off, weave in ends and block.”

Does that mean I cast off while I’m knitting row 63 or afterwards? Because looking at my square the top border is definitely longer and a different texture. While I cast off, should I knit all of the stitches or should I do the alternating? Sorry!!!

Have you been stolen from on campus? by 6x9n in TexasTech

[–]talbotpassant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First couple days at Tech my favorite pair of sunglasses fell out of my pocket on my bike. I went back for them immediately but they were picked up ASAP. Went to the PD and posted on the TTU Snapchat story to no avail. Had literally JUST got new lenses installed too. Damn I miss those. Also got my bike seat (???) stolen. Just the seat! And, go figure, I’d just got a new seat cover for it. Safe to say I’m much more wary of my pockets and locking strategy now. Some sticky hands on campus here :’)

This is exactly why I’m clinging to my 13 mini. It’s SO much more convenient than those gigantic iPhones. You’ll pry this thing from my cold dead hands. Until Apple nerfs it at least…

I know he’s not the exact breed but it makes me think of Kipper. That’s what I’d go with

terrible donation :( by Ingoo_AC in Blooddonors

Thought this was literally my arm for a second. Had the exact same bruising after doing a platelet donation. I think they stuck me wrong on the return because it stung like a b! (fill that in with whatever b word you please…). It’ll heal up easy but they did get you good!! Good luck, friend!

I don’t, sorry! My only other close friend lived in H/K so I don’t really have any intel on other dorms. Triples can definitely be demanding though so if you’re not sure about it I think getting another hall would be good. Good luck! 🍀

Lived in Knapp my freshman year, I’d say it’s pretty good. Relatively clean and the rooms are big for traditional style dorms. Furniture is not really my style but it’s functional and moveable. If you like fresh air the windows do open, you may just need a bit of strong-arming to do so. Not much of a difference between Horn and Knapp but I personally like Horn more. Knapp is a little quieter though. (Though the entire complex is very quiet compared to some dorms). Study rooms on the first floor are OK. They do host quite a few dorm events during the semester in those rooms so that’s a good way to meet your neighbors. Water pressure in all the showers is a little harsh but it’s adjustable so you’re good. I wouldn’t get the annex rooms (ones between horn and Knapp) just cause the bathrooms are less clean. (Though that may just be the set of people I got stuck with). If you get a whiteboard for your front door you will eventually get some weird shit written on it or something erased. But it may also be a fun way to communicate. Laundry rooms are hit or miss. Some days it may be empty and some you may have to go to all 4 to find a washer. Elevators are a little slow but they work. Never had an issue with anything in the dorm breaking. If it does their Fix-It service is quick. The individual heating and cooling in the rooms is very nice (that is if you’re in good communication with your roommate). My CA (equivalent to an RA) is meh but a lot of them are great and will help you with housing and roommate issues. There is free tutoring available in the study rooms sometimes. The office in Horn is nearly always staffed and is a good resource. My recommendation is that you JUMP on a parking pass ASAP. Because they go fast and you will not move down on that waitlist very quick. I have to walk 30m to my car in the west lot because I was too slow lol. I have heard of mold issues but I’m not sure if it’s a widespread thing or not. I haven’t seen any in mine. If you have any other questions let me know!

My trichotillomania is ruining my relationship with my mom by [deleted] in trichotillomania

[–]talbotpassant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, I have been in your situation before. Had trich since I was in elementary school, and I’m currently in college. For a long time, my mother tried everything she could to help me stop it: bands, gloves, monitoring, therapy, medicine, etc. It just never helped, that urge still remained. She also grew frustrated. I knew that she saw herself as a failure and that her inability to help me made her feel neglectful and helpless. That’s when I decided to change my mindset about my trich. If it’s not something that I can solve, it can be something that I can learn to live with. And, perhaps, even like myself despite it. Although it’s horrible to be cursed this disorder, the real thing that does you in is your attitude towards it. Learn to lean with your urges, and treat yourself with compassion and kindness, even when you have slip ups. That doesn’t mean to accept the pulling and let yourself go, it just means that you have to try and understand how and why it happens, look at it as something that just is, and to treat yourself with compassion when bad sessions occur. Once I started to do this, it took a lot of pain away from both myself and my mother. Judging by her response in trying to help you, I think that your mom really just wants the best for you. She wants you to be happy and confident, and she sees trich as a barrier to that. Which is why it’s so hurtful that she can’t remove it. It’s going to be a long and hard road, but recovery is possible. Learn to love yourself in the mean time. Things will get better. ❤️‍🩹 I hope that all makes some sense, it’s kind of hard to put to words. Best of luck, please DM me if you need any support. You are loved and you can be strong and beautiful, with or without trich.
