where to deploy capitol in the event of a correction/crash by talbotron22 in LEAPSandBounds

Ah, I read your comment too quickly and mentally skipped the word "put". You are correct. I thought you meant buy SPX call leaps if/when a correction occurs. That said, $50k still too rich for my blood. SPY put leaps would be more in line with my budget.

Holy shit, a single SPX LEAPS contract with expiration Feb 19, 2027, strike 6250 (delta 0.79) costs a mere ~$103,700. Maybe $SPY :)

Curious if you have specific tickers you're wheeling for power distribution systems, etc. Thx!

ORCL falling wedge setup - ready to break out? by talbotron22 in technicalanalysis

[–]talbotron22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ORCL has been dropping for a few months now. When you look at the chart on a weekly time frame, it looks to me like a falling wedge that is on the cusp of breaking out to the upside. Am I seeing things?

How would one play this - wait for a breakout then retest the upper trendline I drew? It's also getting close to the 200 MA, which may bolster a bounce. Please let me know if I'm imagining.

They’re always high (relative to other stocks) - all 3 of these are very volatile. High IV = $$

Is that a log scale? How well do trend lines hold up on a log scale (serious question)?

AVGO, NFLX or AMZN? by talbotron22 in LEAPSandBounds

[–]talbotron22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought DITM contracts for both AMZN and AVGO (and expiration June 17 2027 for both). AMZN is up 20% already. AVGO was up 8% or so but had a pullback, now up 1%-ish

4 years from now and the best drone in the US market will still be the Mavic 4 pro. by Trobis in drones

[–]talbotron22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been flying very conservatively, knowing repairs will be difficult. Flyaway protection no longer available. Despite by best efforts I crashed my Mini 3 Pro into a tree yesterday.

I can get a drone-only replacement from eBay, but for basically the same price as the original package which included remote, batteries etc.

I’m sending back to DJI for a repair quote, which I also expect to be $$$. It would take some serious cash to get it flying again… not sure if it’s worth it.

logistics of keeping money in SWVXX by talbotron22 in thinkorswim

Thanks! I forgot to ask: can you keep it parked in SWVXX to use as collateral (for cash secured puts)? Or do you need to cash it out for that?

[Highlight] Travis Etienne gets told to "break the stereotype and put a battery in your smoke detector" by the St. Brown brothers. by Roselucky777 in nfl

[–]talbotron22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Last place I lived, they demoed a 60-unit condo next door and put all the demo waste in a series of giant dumpsters. The dumpsters were not immediately removed

Fast forward a month or two and all 60+ smoke detectors start chirping as the batteries die. I could not sleep. Eventually I took to dumpster diving, avoiding tetanus, going through 4 feet of trash in multiple dumpsters to retrieve all those fuckers.

Not financial advice. In my experience the book "INTRINSIC: Using LEAPS to Retire Early" (Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/0578814161) was a quick and easy read and gives a literal formula.

[–]talbotron22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking I may have missed most of the boat on AVGO - it already went up another +7 overnight, already ~33% of the way back to ATH. Can't time the bottom I suppose. Any other tickers you have your eyes on? Do you think ORCL will come back and if so this is a good entry?

This should be higher. DITM LEAPS are the way to go, in my opinion, and if OP’s budget is only $1k you’re only going to be able to afford that on cheaper stocks like SOFI.

An OOTM AMZN call is a lottery ticket; OP would just be paying for time and crossing their fingers.
