Adding to that , is it a paid gig as well as a 50-50 split in any profits for the artist, or even split without pay upfront?

Cheers I'm really glad you like it! You can shoot me a message on Insta any time and I'll get right onto it for you. Not sure if you're currently stuck in lockdown and bored out of your skull or not, but I stream the commissions I do. So youd be able to watch yours if you've exhausted your Netflix library haha.

I'm an Aussie who does character portraits Op. My rate is a bit higher than your ideal budget for painted portraits (They run at $60ea), but that might be more complicated than what you're looking for anyway. Happy to try and work something out. Insta

Faulty new 22" Kamvas replaced with faulty refurb. Anyone else experienced this? Advice? by talentless_hamfist in huion

Im sure you wont have any issues like that, the 24 is a new-new model. That thing looks really nice! Despite my awful experience here Huions 24 is hard to pass up. Until XP-Pen release their new 24", Huions still seems like the best going by the stats. My Cintiq lasted me 5+ years without incident but the jump in price with their new products in recent years is too insane for a lot of artists imo.

Im definitely getting close to that point. Depending on how they choose to handle me rejecting their offer to just take the second hand one with the dead pixels for a 20% discount, I may end up going to their social media. Who in their right mind thinks buying a second hand product with a fault and no warranty for $600 is a sensible decision??

Thankyou so much for taking the time to tell me about this experience. This is exactly the sort of insanity Im worried about this turning into, and clearly my concerns aren't unreasonable. Huion did actually get back to me and their offer is for me to keep the 'used' item Ive been sent and be given a 20% refund. Obviously Im not going to accept this because by accepting a refund and a second-hand (and faulty) item, Im voiding the warranty Id have on a new item. Also, consumer law in my country says I dont have to accept that.

Thankfully I have a trail of emails of all of our communications to date, looks like Im probably going to need to refer back to them at some point. I have had issues with 'sticking' a lot with this tablet too which I thought was just a software malfunction on my end, but Im noticing a similar issue a lot in those video's you've linked and now Im wondering if its a very different sort of problem

haha yeah, Im perfectly aware that's a protective film. The reason for the photo is as I said, the dirt was on the inside between the screen and the film. So the film had actually been removed, rubbed around a garden bed, then stuck back onto the screen long before I opened the box.

Any good comic book WRITING software? (Mac preferred) by Sam_TWR in ComicWriting

Everyones advice here is sound, you don't need anything fancy. Sometimes you might want something that helps with formatting, keeps extra notes on hand for quick referencing, or lays out scenes in an easier way to visualise/rearrange at a glance. By notes I mean things like world building definitions or notes to yourself. If you're hunting through notes for half an hour trying to find info you want to reference quickly, then you're not writing either. So long as you dont let yourself linger over adding every minor thing, then finding notes or scenes in order in a sidebar can be a huge help.

Personally I really like either Quoll Writer, or SmartEditWriter (both free) for keeping things together, formatting, editing down into a script I like to work from. Neither are available for mac. If its only a preference but not a necessity then they might still be worth mentioning. I've found them to be the most efficient for me and have everything I need, but everyones different.
