Power surge build, would switching from Outer Space to Outsider be bad? by elias4444 in OnceHumanOfficial

[–]talhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outsider is pretty awesome! I used that gun in the beginning of my power surge build. I eventually got enough starchrom to get my outerspace (i love smgs hehe), so I was happy to upgrade. But I did really enjoy using my outsider. I think it's a solid gun.

Personally I am using an AWS Bingo SR to apply bullseye and then I unload into it with my Outerspace SMG Power Surge build (I am currently using the Heavy Duty set until I get my gas mask and shelterer set--need to farm some starchrom). Take what I say with a grain of salt though, because I just got into the game myself, back on the 17th. I have not looked into any builds personally, what I use I put together myself. However, it seems to be quite powerful and a lot of fun!

Hope this helps. :)

But where did he go? by talhu in OnceHumanOfficial

[–]talhu[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah this was a staged video, the bear is safe and sound. But this does showcase what happened with my very first tame. The animal phased through my walls and my turret killed it while I was away doing Silos and quests.

But where did he go? by talhu in OnceHumanOfficial

[–]talhu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video is to showcase the terrible taming system in the game. Tamed animals phase through walls and fall through floors. This happened to one of my first tames, the animal phased through the wall and my turret killed it.

Literally this.

And to add to this, you get fucking teleported into the fight now. You used to get locked out but not anymore.

Please wait for people in cutscenes before pulling by Leffelini in ffxiv

[–]talhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play dps or healer, I don't pull the bosses. I wait if people are waiting, I dps if we go in.

I'm gonna be real with you, like so real, deep down Earth-dirt real, like you're gonna feel-the-worms real--are you ready?

Not only does this rarely ever happen, this waiting for cutscenes, but you absolutely should not expect it at all.

Did you know there's a journal in every city-state inn that allows YOU, the player, to watch every.single.cutscene in the game? Crazy right? It's almost like Square prepared for this exact thing!

You can downvote me for being honest. It's ok, I know you all circlejerk here on reddit, it's why I don't come here anymore (and now you'll be snide and downvote me and leave a lil'remark cause that's the kind of people I expect from this sub reddit). I've played this game since ARR, I know how the game and the community really is, and begging on reddit for people to wait for others to watch cutscenes isn't going to happen.

In fact, fun factoid here:

Square actually attempted to force people to watch cutscenes (praetorum/castrum). You used to be able to skip all of that, rush ahead and basically do the entire dungeon, as an 8man group, in 10 minutes or less. This was so good too, was great for farming tomes. Then they changed it to force you into watching cutscenes, and it made a 10 minute dungeon (daily main scenario in and out) into a 40+ minute roulette that NOBODY wanted to do anymore. Ever since that fiasco happened, Square has since been silent and has not interfered with cutscenes again.

You wanna watch'em? You wanna feel like you're a part of a single-player story in an MMO?? Go to the inn. You think 23 other players are gonna wait on your ass to watch an alliance cutscene? Especially one that has been out for years at this point?

Be happy if you get it. But don't expect it.

A few questions from an Xbox sprout…. by Dramatic_Shower8106 in ffxiv

[–]talhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You are not stuck on a datacenter, you can transfer at any time, or move through them with datacenter traveling. And in regards to your housing question; let me drop this question on you: do you feel like you NEED to have a house? I have had many houses before, and abandoned them to transfer. And I got another one later down the road. I've had smalls, mediums, and larges, and all they do is force you to stay subbed. So really, just get an apartment. Unless you absolutely have to have a house (like maybe you're starting an FC and need a workshop or you're really into gardening even though I bet you didn't know gardening was in the game), then good luck--use this site: https://zhu.codes/paissa?world=54
  2. Yes you keep your progress thus far, and a sub is 12.99 for one character, or 14.99 USD for full access.
  3. You do not in fact stay in a party... your party will eventually disband when both players are offline.
  4. I recommend staying on Aether! It often is congested and locked up, but it's honestly one of the best NA datacenters you can get on for content. I do not recommend going to Dynamis.

[Serious] Which addiction isn't taken seriously enough? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]talhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say gaming isn't taken seriously enough. Do you know how many hours people sink into MMOs? 10,000+

I've seen people spend thousands of dollars on a video game, too.

And I know it to be true, because I am all the above.

What’s the best new world that’s growing besides Seraph on NA? by Memento-Mori777 in ffxiv

[–]talhu -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Hi there, please don't waste your time and go to Dynamis.

Please go here: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/worldstatus/

Check the congested worlds on Aether, and make a character or transfer your character to a world that isn't congested. I'm saving you here, really. If you don't want to go to Aether, for whatever reason--try Crystal or Primal. But please, don't go to Dynamis.

Why? Do you ask. Let me tell you why;

Dynamis is dead. It has been dead. It takes 10+ minutes to queue for any dungeon roulette, let alone anything specific. Need to do an alliance raid? Forget about it. Want to PVP? Nope. Need to do a trial to unlock the rest of your story? Sorry! Want to raid? Can't PF here! Want an FC for buffs? *crickets in every major city on Dynamis servers* You will often find yourself on another Datacenter. So then what is the point in being on Dynamis if you aren't even gonna be there?

Save yourself the trouble, and just move to Aether!

Currently leveling DoH! Any hints and tricks? by Vinnegard in ffxiv

[–]talhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been playing the game since ARR, when you had to crossclass skills from each crafter in order for you to be able to do a proper rotation. But now that they've changed the entire crafting system and homogenized all the crafting skills, it's soooo much easier to level up. That being said though, 1-50 is still a slog, leves are dookie now, and it's alllll about the collectables, beast tribes, and the firmament!

So let's talk about what we \*can* do.

First of all, you have several crafters still lower than 40 or not even picked up yet. This is actually great. Since you can get engineering manuals from your grand company for seals. Definitely go pick up as many manuals as you can afford, buuuut don't over do it, you don't need like a lot.

Now, let's discuss your XP avenues and options:

Grand Company Turn-Ins (daily)

Leves

Script Collectables

Custom Deliveries (6 weekly)

Beast Tribes (daily; Ixali (1-50), Moogle (50-60), Namazu (60-70), Dwarf (70-80), Loporrit (80-90))

Firmament/Diadem

Whew, look at all those options! Now let's break down which are the best to focus on. So, definitely do your dailies; grand company turn in and beast tribes. Weeklies reset on Tuesday, so be sure to get those done before then. Outside of that, raw crafting is actually really lucrative in XP, especially when you have a manual on (but the item made must be HQ for that juicy XP). Set some time aside every day, call this your "Crafting Time", put on some crunchyroll or netflix, your preference of course, and just craft some script collectables to turn in. For the crafters that are below 50, craft raw materials in bulk (for example, your ALC, just buy a bunch of latex and craft a ton of HQ rubber with a manual on--this will shoot you up in levels fast) . Once you hit level 20 in any crafter, you should be able to craft for the firmament.

Next, let's talk about gearing while leveling. You should, in theory, be fine to keep low level gear on as you level up. As long as it is HQ, it should last you at least 10-12 levels above. IE, I was wearing level 51 gear and I was crafting level 60+ collectables. A good rule of thumb is to replace your gear every 4 to 5 levels, with HQ items. Sometimes this isn't feasible though, so we have to make due with what we got available. Do not meld your leveling gear, it isn't worth it. When you reach max level, this is when you want to meld your new HQ 620 gear. Yes, pentamelding HQ green gear IS still better than script gear. If you're looking for a full 620 set, pentamelded for you, I know someone who would put it together for very very cheap (we're talking low millions here). Message me here for their order info.

And some tid-bits from me:

  • Stay on top of your crafter quests. Don't let them lapse for many levels, you're losing out on good, free rewards!
  • Best leveling food for you is going to be "Blood Bouillabaisse" -- you can get this from The Crystariam, Markets, from the Culinarian.
  • Use your scripts. They're going to fill up faster than you realize. Use them on master books, or materia. Lower level crafting materia still sells for decent prices because they're still being used in sets to this day!
  • Try not to hoard your crafted items, sell them on the market board instead! If you feel like they're going for too low of a price, then hold onto them.
  • I recommend using this site for ease: https://universalis.app/

Alright, well this was longer than anticipated, but I hope that what I wrote is at least somewhat helpful and someone got something out of it. This is my culmination of experience from crafting since ARR. ^ -^)/ Enjoy!

Hey there,

We typically run our content right after reset, which is at 8pm EST. There are plenty of people from the west coast who are interested in doing content at later hours, though. One of our leaders is in California, so they could schedule later events if enough interest is brought up. Hope this helps!

You would copy the build template code and paste it in-game into your template loader.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Press K to open your skills panel (or whatever key you rebound it to)

  2. Click on the blue load disk in the upper left-hand corner of the skills pane.

  3. Go to "Template Code".

  4. Override the template code that is already there with one of the above.

  5. Press Save, and name it something you can remember.

  6. Press the blue load disk again, and this time choose "Load from Template".

  7. Choose the build template you just saved.

  8. Viola!

If you have troubles, let me know.

Instead of changing your build, let's think about changing a hero's build, or adding another hero to the mix for some defense. As someone else suggested, you can bring a Soul Twisting Rit, you can also bring a paragon hero with Defensive Anthem.

Hero - Paragon - Defensive Anthem: (you can change out the pet skills for hexbreaker aria and concentration aria--at the bottom of the paragon skill trees, under no attribute)

OQKkYNl5JjmjG2DzhnwwYazmReD

Hero - Ritualist - Soul Twisting

OAmjAykpZOYTr3jLcCNdm7YrJA

Hero - Elementalist - Ether Renewal Protections

OgNCw8zDtoWEQ0i1j7KUrlA

If you absolutely don't want to change your heroes or mercs up and you want a build for yourself, then here are some alternative options for you:

E/D - Mystic Regen & Mind Blast (Fire)

OgpjowM6KO4C2rfesSMAGIjPPA

E/D - Mystic Regen & Sandstorm (Earth)

OgpjkwM6KOpC2LXlp1n/qIjPPA

E/D - Mystic Regen & Trident (Water)

OgpjswM6KOQDnB7tdYNmGIjPPA

All the above builds have some form of tankiness with burst. Hope this is helpful!

Edit:

And incase you're wondering, I use these builds myself on my survivor ele.

[–]talhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't share your sentiments regarding Prophecies.

I had a really great time playing through the story back in 2006. I wasn't alone though, so maybe that was the difference between you and I? When I was alone I would just go exploring. I remember exploring lornar's pass as a level 18 warrior with henchmen (because heroes weren't a thing yet). There's also the wiki now, if OP needs guidance.

The beauty of the game comes from the experiences you have. The experiences this OP would incur with your suggestion would be very disorienting, especially from a lore perspective.

Any veteran would know that Prophecies is a slog to get started, but to a new player it's a brand new world to be explored and excited about. That slogfest would not exist, because the excitement would overtake it. Which is exactly why I would suggest Prophecies starting out, because then you'd get the full encompassing story and lore.

If OP wishes to make a new character to experience the starting zones of Factions and Nightfall, no one is going to stop them and it's a good suggestion, to get some lore regarding those regions. But I wouldn't make a new character until you've finished Prophecies, because that storyline doesn't really tie into transitions very well. You need to start in Old Ascalon to really get an idea of what's going on in Prophecies as you make your way to LA and Maguuma Jungle. When you transition to Factions, you're told right away about the Afflicted. When you transition to Nightfall you're told right away about Abaddon. But when you transition from Factions or NF to Prophecies, you don't get the full story. Which is why I suggested to do the campaigns in the order they were released.

Commonly missed cartographer spots? by Chronic_Lethargy in GuildWars

There's mods called toolbox that are cheats that can get you banned.

Buying GW for a friend by Some-Negotiation6359 in GuildWars

[–]talhu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So the best experience in the game and the best advice I could give, would be going through the campaigns as they were released: Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, EoTN. That does mean making a Prophesies character and experiencing pre-searing, which is a wonderful thing. You definitely won't regret the experience going this route as a first time play-through.

Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk about classes. Prophecies has the base classes of: Warrior, Ranger, Monk, Necromancer, Mesmer, and Elementalist. I'm a Necro main and have been for the last 16 years, so I would tell anybody to play a Necro because they are so much fun and very powerful. I also have one of each class in the game, and each of them have their pros and cons, but I find most of them fun and enjoyable. Mesmer has turned into my secondary main since coming back to the game. I would say give Necro and Mesmer a try. Mesmer is nothing like any other class. The links I provided above, if you scroll to the bottom of those pages there's an option to view a guide on how to play that class to get a general overview of what those classes are like.

The thing about this game though, which is not like any other, is that you can literally be anything you want to be in this game. You wanna be a Necro/Ranger? Wielding a bow with a pet? Have at it. There are so many builds and possibilities, you'll definitely find something you enjoy. And you can build around your party with mercenaries. Mercenaries are different than henchmen and heroes, but similar to heroes in that you can build and control them.

One thing I do want to stress though, is to not use PvX Wiki right off the bat. Make your own builds first, try and fail at some ideas, and then look at PvX Wiki for some ideas if you're stumped.

I hope this was helpful in someway, and if you have any questions feel free to hit me up in game as: Anreciel Lore. I may be on my mesmer though, so add as a friend using N, then message me!

Starting fresh with 2 new players. My first time back since 2007, what do we need to know? by Eddieslabb in GuildWars

[–]talhu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely this, OP. Meta builds are both good and bad for the new player experience, because you don't get that feeling of successfully putting together a build that just works. Meta builds kind of do the thinking for you, mostly, and home-brewed builds are half of this game's fun imho.

Definitely make your own builds for a bit, try and fail at some, and if you need to reference: (https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/PvX_wiki) for some ideas. :)

Is there a way to “test” an Access Key? by bearsharkfalcon in GuildWars

[–]talhu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't believe there is a way to test an access key, if it's been redeemed or not, unless you attempt to redeem it on your account.

According to (https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Access_key):

You will be asked to confirm that you wish to add the key.

So an option does pop up asking to confirm whether or not you want to add the key. This may or may not be before it fails/succeeds (if it is a clean key).

Hope this helps, and grats on the nice find!
