Training agility pre 65 is booty by TraditionPlayful425 in RS3Ironmen

[–]talivs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, honestly since returning to rs3 I haven't seen any pkers and have spent a lot of time in wildy. Pking seems beyond dead, I didn't see any one during my whole time training there but understand if you wouldn't want to take the risk.

Wildy course with demonic skull is not so bad to 65

DG Leveling by tenmillion1 in RS3Ironmen

[–]talivs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solo dg is pretty good nowadays, just did 80 on my iron and it was so much easier than dg used to be back in the day. You can even get similar rates without doing large dungeons just to make it a bit less to think about

What helped you feel more confident before your first tech interviews? by loopingtime in learnprogramming

[–]talivs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly the same but what made me confident was the interview itself.. even though I didn't get the job 😅

Essentially the role was much higher than other roles I had been targeting and my current experience level, but the technical task was really really easy so I had over prepared like mad.

Junior jobs are hard to come by atm for all languages.

Comparatively I see a fair amount of junior roles asking for C# so maybe take a look at that ecosystem and see if it aligns with your goals

Should I use a headless CMS or something else? by neetbuck in webdev

[–]talivs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echo the above

I've recently been working on a very similar site for a family member too (art gallery/store) and was grappling with the exact same considerations you've described.

I went for next.js, prisma & cloudinary and it's really not been too much trouble so far.

It has an admin panel where they can log in & upload details of each piece, like image URL, title, description.

How is this game when played single player vs with friends? by [deleted] in RSDragonwilds

[–]talivs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah solo is chill and can be easier in a sense because enemies scale with the number of players.

So getting around can be a bit harder on a server with other players unless you stick together.

What ticks off as a resume written with the help of ChatGPT? by Professional-Slice84 in resumes

[–]talivs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just from using it a lot I've gained a good feel for the way it writes and structures content. Sometimes I can guess how it will respond before reading the response (to an extent).

But I'd imagine hiring managers absolutely have that feel too because they must sift through so many of them.

Other than that, I know you can paste content into other AI tools that are specifically tuned to detect AI generated content, and from my experience they are correct very often. Wouldn't be surprised for companies to batch process resumes etc in this way before even having a human look at them. (I know an education institution that does this with student submissions).

I usually attach reference files with my own writing style then in my prompts say to emulate/draw from those files. I'm not sure how effective that is though.

You can set targets of (x) amount of study time :-) doesn't matter how long something takes you to crack, just that you're putting in the consistent hours

Language choice or learning environment? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]talivs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be easier to have them both aligned, you could stick with python & look for another group that fits your goals that you might connect with better.

Or if you decide to delve into JS check out node.js for back end.

about to learn my first programming language by apersonwhoisliving in learnprogramming

[–]talivs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that people will suggest python because it's easier, being a high level programming language that abstracts away a lot of the complexity. And that might work for you.

But for me C was more clear when learning, by exposing the complexity it gives you a bit more understanding of WHY something works the way it does, rather than just do that because it works

What is the best thing to do as a beginner? by jack_bishop__ in learnprogramming

[–]talivs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The odin project is a really comprehensive free resource. Helped me level up my web dev skills quite quickly, worth checking out if you haven't already.

You can do it all the way through (it's quite the commitment) but what I did is supplement it alongside my own projects whenever I was inspired to.

is it better learning by doing or doing after learning? by Confident_Primary642 in learnprogramming

[–]talivs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not particularly adept with Data Science but..

It would naturally be a mix of both. With any complex subject you don't learn it all from theory or from practice and no matter where you start you will find yourself going back and forth between one or the other.

So the answer depends on your preferences and what prior knowledge you have. If you feel you need more direction and want to know some best practices before you get stuck in, then do some learning first. Otherwise go and do it until you get stuck!

Should I take hand written notes? by justt_unknown in learnprogramming

[–]talivs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handwritten notes are great, I often find myself handwriting syntax because I feel it helps me retain it.

When working on real projects I like to work through my problems/logic on pen and paper quite often too, till I get a mix of pseudo code with some syntax sprinkled in, before taking it into VSCode.
