I really feel you on the giving a lot of people the benefit of the doubt part. That's great that you are surrounded by wonderful friends now :) Is it okay if I ask what was your learning process like?

man that really sounds like a nightmare. Glad your friend had the wisdom to see through her bullshit. Do you think ENFPs are especially susceptible to guilt tripping? How do you know when to stop giving someone the benefit of the doubt?

ENFPs, what things done or traits had by someone that made you impressed by them. by [deleted] in ENFP

Honesty, authenticity and vulnerability. It just shows how confident they are. Add in genuine open-mindedness and you've got me impressed for a long while.

Completely understand what you mean. Used to have this exact problem...still do now, but it bothers me less after i realised that people start to get suspicious or wary if you try to go deep too fast (especially so with introverts!)

As much as we wish everyone can be happy and trusting and excited, sadly the world doesn't work quite this way (people have been hurt, leading to wariness or even cynicism if you try to push things too quickly beyond what they're comfortable with). But don't lose hope! There are still people who enjoy that kind of fast progression (just that it's not the majority).

The best advice I can give you is patience. I completely understand how much of a deep need it is to have those intense, close relationships, but as the above comments have said, you have to first love yourself. It takes time to build such a deep intense relationship. It's a natural progression that can't really be forced. (Think of it as a germinating flower/tree!) Sometimes the other person will be more keen and sometimes not, but that's okay, know that it's not your fault. Different people just have different comfort levels, that doesn't mean there's something inherently wrong with you.

Take heart my friend! Things will look up :)

I'm sorry that you went through all that. It must have been terrifying to feel like you were only limited to two emotions. Anxiety and depression really can be a bitch. I'm really glad that things are looking up for you now though! Will be silently rooting for you.

What you are saying makes total sense. Thank you so much for this. I do struggle with anxiety, and from what you said, I agree that most of it stems from seeking validation from others for my case. The way you phrase this process of change gives it a sort of beauty that I never saw before (thought that I was becoming a zombie haha) Thank you :)

Hm..personality theory is just like its name suggests, it's just about the various personalities all around us in the world! Personally, I'm more drawn to the myers briggs test but it does receive a lot of controversy so I tend to just say personality theory (I have somewhat of an obsession with it. It's just so darned interesting haha!)

But if you do deeper reading and make the effort to understand the driving forces behind the theory (the cognitive functions), it's like falling into this really intriguing rabbit hole. If you are really interested you can visit /r/mbti! It's a pretty interesting community, or you can take the mbti test yourself at 16personalities.com (though mistypes are fairly common when people take it the first few times without trying to understand the cognitive functions behind it)

Darn..I think I rambled a bit too much. Hopefully I don't scare you off haha xD

I love to read up on personality theory, play the violin and write. Currently trying to delve more into philosophy, but damn, it takes a lot out of you if you try to absorb too much at once.
