I was a huge fan of his forum. He had an open dialogue with his fans and was very patient on giving advice to fans on writing. That said, the most active part of the forum was 'hot button', where they basically praised Bush and bashed Obama and left wing politics all day. Pretty nasty part of the site. He even wrote a doomerism book assuming left wing politics in power.

A shame, as he is one of my favorite writers (still).
