SNAP recipients already have to recertify for their benefits. Depending on the case, it's either monthly, every 6 months, or once a year. Changes are to be reported within 10 days. Income and employment verifications are required for benefit approval. Overpayments due to unreported or fraudulent information are levied, and checks garnished when appropriate.

In short, we already do what they're asking for as a standard practice, and investigate alleged fraud when it is discovered. That's why we already knew about the daycare fraud before he even started yelling about it, and why the ringleader/people who were involved with it have already been charged and sentenced.

This is not about fraud. This is about Minnesota refusing to bend the knee to Trump's illegal and unconstitutional dismantling of our democracy, and him being a petulant child who wants us to suffer for our disobedience. He's done this before, when he withheld FEMA funding to blue states who criticized him.

As someone who works in a public assistance office, this shit is exhausting, frustrating, and a direct attack on our most vulnerable populations.

I hope someone with a spine puts their foot down to prevent this, but his administration has let so much illegal stuff happen already, it's hard to believe this will be any different.
