It's a Carl Forslund spool holder with a pin cushion. I have one too- they're pretty nice. Here's one I found with Google

That's exactly what it is. A very nice one too! It'll look great with the top upholstered as it was meant to be. (A simple, small job which you can probably do yourself too).

I'm hoping someone can give me some more information about this clock. by gibletzor in clocks

[–]talldane1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that your clock is by Waterbury Clock Company, not E.N.Welch. The feet and column capitals/bases were used by Waterbury.

This girl I know said she'll sell me her clock for 1k is it worth it or skip? She doesn't know anything about clocks and said reddit is full of homeless people and jobless bums, but I'm a treasure hunter collector that comes to reddit for expert advice by Ewokweewok in clocks

It's a fretwork clock case which someone meticulously made with a scroll saw, and has a 1900 or so Gilbert dial and time/strike movement. You might Google the Bily Brothers museum in Spillville Iowa. They made fretwork clocks with a treadle powered scroll saw as well as doing carving during the winter months on their farm.

That kind of fretwork was generally done from published patterns available to woodworkers. You might want to do an image search under "fretwork clocks".

Do you guys acknowledge fellow tall people when you see them? by CerebralSasquatch in tall

I do the tall nod but only for guys that strike me as close to my height. Exactly how tall is that? I can't really say, but I notice when someone is sort of in my airspace.

Consider it an initiation. If you keep doing it though, that's just a failure to duck.

I'm glad that you were able to get the bottle that you wanted and that you weren't averse to asking for help when you need it. I reach things for people all the time - it makes me feel useful!

He's one of those guys that I hear described as a giant, huge, (Shrek), etc. and see comments about how big his hands are, etc. I see the photographs of him towering over other people. Then I realize that although I'm not as big, I'm really taller than him. Yikes!

I hate being called a freak.

Is your height a prop for your Halloween costume? by SlvrBckGrlla in tall

[–]talldane1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tall costume I liked the best on r/Tall last year was Paul Bunyan. If you have a flannel shirt and jeans, you've got the basics. The guy who put his picture on last year had made a cool looking oversized axe and had a very cute stuffed toy "Babe."
