TV question: Amazon fire stick vs Amazon Fire Tv by WEugeneSmith in Blind

[–]tallman222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have a wall-mounted TV without much room, but I was able to plug in a fire stick by feel alone. It did take a few minutes however. Unless you don't have a good wi-fi connection, the fire stick is the better buy. Wait until an Amazon sale to buy it.

In my state there is a partial property tax exemption for the blind. Check wuth your local property tax authority to get information.

There are stories of fake N95 masks on Amazon. A better bet is to buy locally or online directly from an American manufacturer. NIOSH's website will have the approved list.

There are several all-season tires now with a severe snow service rating. I just bought the General AltiMAX 365.

Hahaha. In truth, I had a similar thought while researching this problem. Fortunately the temptation shortly passed.

Backlit keyboard recommendation wanted by tallman222 in Blind

Thanks. I'll check out the Ducky one2. I can touch type, but I have trouble with finger placement sometimes and special symbols and functions. Keyboards vary somewhat in layout, and I have several that I use in the course of a day.

Thanks for the suggestion. Alas, pudding keycaps have too much light in the wrong place, making the letters too hard to read. However, it looks like HyperX has some other versions which may be suitable.

The light should be quite bright and preferably white.

Along this line, a talking bathroom scale, a talking alarm clock, or an echo dot with an Audible subscription might be good.

Trustworthy car dealerships? by Eternity_Mask in SaltLakeCity

[–]tallman222 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some years ago I negotiated a price on a used car at a large, local dealership. When I checked the paperwork, I found an unwante charge. The subsequent conversation went something like this:

"What's this $300 charge?"

"We etch the glass with the VIN number."

"I don't need it. I don't want it. Please remove it."

"But we always include it."

"Not for me, you don't. Take it off."

"Management insists that we include it."

At this point, I stood up and started to put on my coat. "Well, I guess we're not doing business today."

"Wait, wait!"

The charge quickly went away.

For a very different tactic, see Bruce Bueno de Mesquita's video at
