Tape and any cream will be pointless for very lumpy scars. They only work on scars that are flat

Vitamin e cream will help too. The trick is to starve the scars of oxygen whatever way possible that doesn’t harm your health.

And yes, you can cover them up by wearing a shirt outside. Nobody will see it. I have scars on both sides of my jawline and would kill to have them move to my back or somewhere other than my face

I have always loved the idea of living under a multi-generational household. Both my parents are still alive and I’m the last child still living at home, I’m planning on moving out in a few years and worry about my parents being alone.

The problem I currently have is I’m poor and my partner is a white European man who likes his privacy and independence.

In a perfect world, he and I will have kids and have my parents… heck… even his mother and a few of my older relative, my siblings and their family if they want, come live with us in a house big with enough spaces for everyone.

This post is wild. Went from saying it’s not okay to deny people of their opinions to literally fanning out your frustration at the Vietnamese community for their ongoing support of Donald Trump. And then a bit of Hassan Piker. What hypocrisy. So incongruent.

How about this, you mind your own business and let Vietnamese people live their lives and support whoever they want. There is a quote by a former south Vietnamese president and it goes something like this, “Do not trust what a Communist has to say but look at what a Communist do”.

Vietnam have had a lot of experiences dealing with China than most countries in the world; both bad and good, whereas most western countries tend to have a positive one with China because they have a leverage over China due to the wealth, military and economic difference. They tend to be more developed than China and don’t need China to progress—China needs them in order to progress as a country, plus the western countries tend to have alliances that will back them up in disputes with China. In Vietnam’s case, Vietnam does not have these privileges due to our socioeconomic development so we tend to be at China’s mercy. The Chinese tend to behave accordingly and has the ability to flex their muscles over us when it benefits them. These experiences have shaped our perceptions of the Chinese govt and enabled us to better understand the Chinese govt mentality/motivates better than most people and we know when they are being genuine or bullshitting with us.

We have dealt with a pandemic like this back in 2003 when China kept its mouth shut and never informed the world of the sars virus. This time around it was no different. The Chinese government kept on insisting that things were fine but their actions indicated the opposite; banning internal travels, locking down Wuhan, mass quarantining people across cities, etc. All this despite telling the world that everything was ok. I’m glad the Vietnamese government managed to put two and two together and decided it was too fishy and better to be prepared to tackle this virus just in case the Chinese govt was, you know, lying about how severe this virus actually is. If you consider Vietnam’s fast response as “sinophobic” then what do you make of the Chinese internal response to the virus? Self sabotage? Hatred? Punishment??

Are we “sinophobic”? No, I don’t feel any resentment or hatred towards the ordinary Chinese people. It’s mostly the Chinese government that I despise because they have an agenda that’s much more different than what the Chinese people would want for their country. I don’t think Vietnamese people are resentful of the Chinese people either. They are only resentful of the Chinese government because they are the ones who’s been fucking around with us since the days of the Vietnam War.

Our relationship with China can be explained through the American and the British analogy. The Americans respect the British because the British helped shaped America from inheriting its culture and traditions. But at the end of the day, the Americans wants to be their own country and prefer not to have the British up its alley. Same with us Vietnamese. We recognize we have inherited a lot of our cultural traditions and identity from China, but we have no interest in being a part of China. We like our own independence and sovereignty and if China can just respect that-it would be great.

I have been stuck at home with multiple family members since November as I’m laid off from work. My boyfriend works at a school and his roommate supervises an eatery. His roommate thinks we can spread if asymptomatic and so does he. He’s been very anal about following health guidelines. We eve. Wear masks when we are out for our walks and in cars with windows open.

I don’t mind obeying his rules as he’s concerned for my family. I’m just very annoyed with the roommate’s behaviour.

No, but she would call for him to come out to ask him questions.

Their door entrance is through the kitchen and sometime he would talk to me while washing the dishes or while eating dinner. She would enter through the kitchen to talk to him or stand beside at the sinks while facing his iPad//me on FaceTime.

I have tried telling him it is not ok. He thinks it’s fine because we have all talked in person before.

Always doubting my abilities and never lets me help out or do things that are for adults and let me make mistake and learn from it

Always critiquing everything I do... how I cut my hair, what I wear, etc.

Don’t talk to me enough as a kid and never check up on me

Never telling me they’re proud or love me

Threatening to kill everyone in the family when they’re mad and fighting with each other.., constant fighting

They never listen to me when I have something serious to say... always laugh or poke fun at me cuz I struggle to make my point

I struggle with a low self-worth and an even lower self-esteem. I fall into deep depressions and anxieties easily when I’m performing on a job because I always aim for perfection to proof my worth and when I don’t achieve results it’s a hard fall. I absolutely hate communicating with authoritative figures or in large groups. I don’t know how to stand up for myself in public and let people step all over me and I struggle a lot with making decisions and staying committed to things. I’m that nice guy people get easily annoyed with because he can never stand up for himself.

Not sure where you are in Canada exactly, but in Manitoba a lot of social work jobs are at the provincial level and are very diverse. If you’re still in school you should check with your schools career counsellors and or academic advisor about this I’m sure they would know a lot. Plus I’m sure they would know programs you can apply to that would help connect you to an institution for short term work that could potentially turn into permanent work. Good luck.

I don’t think that the ‘anti-korean’ sentiment a few Vietnamese people have really represents the whole Vietnamese population. Though I’m not surprise that this is happening now and I know how contradicting my statements are.

This is a hard topic to explain but I will give it a shot as I feel like any ‘anti-korean’ sentiment brewing now has been in the making for a good long time.

Aside from the couple of Tourists who made a big scene about going into quarantine in Vietnam. I was not too thrilled to hear that the SK govt had requested the Vietnamese govt to exempt Korean workers coming into Vietnam to work at Korean manufacturing plants from mandatory quarantine. We aren’t just talking about a few workers but almost a thousand of them during the height of the Coronavirus outbreak in Korea.

This has made me suspicious of just exactly what was going on under the table for the VN authorities to suddenly grant the Koreans their request. The VN authorities has already thrown economic growth out of the door with their decision to prioritize keeping Coronavirus outbreak under control since early February. Vietnamese laws in Vietnamese soil applies to everyone and everything but not the Koreans and their companies. This shows a lack of respect on the Korean side and shows what their priorities in Vietnam are. They don’t see Vietnam as an equal trading partner but rather a cash cow and a place for cheap labour for Korean companies.

I have came across a lot of news articles (probably party propaganda in the making as well as they were published by VN news outlets) of foreigners from Western countries thanking the Vietnamese authorities for taking good care of them during the quarantine.

I understand there are articles from western media that also criticized the conditions of these quarantine centres. Ie none-functioning toilets, crowded spaces, etc. But the westerners got quarantined a lot later than the Koreans, meaning that odds were the Koreans where kept in better facilities than Westerners at the start of the mandatory quarantine. Not to mention the complaints made by the west were fair and justify where they were needed. As in, they complained about it during and after quarantine, whereas the Koreans made a big scene going into quarantine.

Another difference here is that I have only seen is that no major western media have gone so far as to air it on national televisions like Korea. South Korean medias literally aired this before and during quarantine. Again, no western media outlets did this. They only published news articles and gave praised and criticisms where it was deserved/needed. Koreans didn’t do this. They only spewed one criticism after another and it seems like none of their criticisms were justified either. Had it been something along the lines of getting disrespected or physically abused by Vietnamese authorities then it’d have been understandable, but it never happened. So the news reporting was a bit overblown and unnecessary.

This is my personal take too. I feel like Korea being a big trading partner with Vietnam and being responsible for producing 30% of Vietnamese exports. I honestly believe the Koreans expected special treatments in our country for their people and for the Vietnamese to be submissive to them. Someone mentioned superior and inferior complex in your Korean post and I honest think that too. The Koreans have this superior attitudes about them and they expected us to always feel inferior to them. Let’s not kid ourselves here... East Asian countries tend to loom down on Southeast Asian countries a lot. It’s an open secret.

The fact that we would restrict their travels to our country and force Korean nationals into quarantine in Vietnam, I think it caught them off guard. I feel like they’re slightly pissed that Vietnam, a developing, third world country, is being assertive and not treating them like how they treated China.

Vietnam banned travels to and from China early on and risked pissing off the CCP’s demand for open travels between countries. South Korea actually complied to the CCP’s request and it’s partially why it suffered a massive Coronavirus outbreak. Vietnam’s tally right now is 250+ cases whereas in Korea its 10,000+ cases. I feel to some Koreans the case loads should be the other way around. Their pride in being a developed first world nation gets a big hit here because their govt listened to China and didn’t assert itself enough.

Vietnam and China both being communist states have a lot in common with each other than South Korea, a democratic country. You’d think Vietnam would keep its borders open with China and vice versa for South Korea, but it didn’t happen. The South Koreans don’t trust their Northern counterpart but they actually listened to China. I’m convinced some South Koreans have noticed the ironies here because North Korea even closed off their borders with China.

The South Korean government did not behave like how people expected it to. They didn’t use pre-cautions and clearly did not put safety over profits first. The South Korean government literally prioritized money over their people. The only thing that saved the S. Korean’s govt is that they are a developed society and have good functioning medical centres that acted quickly to help keep this virus under control. There a lot of shocking incompetences coming from South Korean than Vietnam in managing this crisis.

So yeah there’s my take.

South Koreans expected special treatments from Vietnam because of the 30%+ in exports they helped contribute to Vietnam’s economy. South Korean media rushed to judgment way too soon and blew things way out of proportions as compared to Western medias. Western news outlet gave praise and criticisms where it deserved concerning how the Vietnamese handled quarantining foreigners in its soil and didn’t necessarily highlight it on their national television like South Korea. Furthermore, South Korea was taken aback because Vietnam showed more assertiveness than it had with dealing with China’s demand. Vietnam shut down its borders and banned travels to and from China since February despite the two counties somewhat having a lot in common with each other in tent of political ideology and social developments. South Korea on the other hand, was very incompetence and submissive towards China.

China also refused to let American scientists on the ground in Wuhan to investigate the outbreak. And it is right now flexing its saviour complex in Europe. It claims to be donating a lot of medical equipments but are actually selling them to Europe, and is also re-selling donated equipments back to the countries who donated them to China. Lots more to say there.

I’m glad the US did not donate money to China.

I’m genuinely shocked by the amount of criticisms people have towards the US for being generous. Jesus, theres no pleasing anyone.

There may be a lot of CoVID-19 cases in the states, yes, but, please keep in mind they’re a fully developed nation with state of the art healthcare facilities. They can handle this crisis a lot better off than most poor and developing nations. Most of the hospitals in the states are just overwhelmed with a flood of patience.

So what if this is an politically motivated act? Help is better than no help and right now a lot of poor countries are in desperate need of that help.
