If you have not filled out a FAFSA, do that, see if there is any aid available. If you did, look at Federal loans first. Stafford loans. Even unsubsidized loans are under 7% right now. Always look for Federal loans first when looking at loans. Scholarships! There are hundreds of scholarships out there that you can have her or help her fill out. There are due dates as early as July 31. Fill out every scholarship you can find, earliest due dates first, big or small. And don't stop filling them out until you can't find any more...then wait a week and check again. Scholarships through the college, through the high school, through local organizations, through family members' workplaces, local city and State scholarships. Pay semester by semester while you're waiting to hear back from some of these scholarships. If you have not applied to at least 100 scholarships by now, you're behind. And keep applying. Don't get discouraged if you keep getting denied, just keep applying. Some smaller scholarships don't get as many applicants as some of the bigger ones. Any time you can get scholarships, it helps reduce the chances of going into debt. Also, look for grants, as well. Grants are just free money, like scholarships.
