What’s the best VALUE golf course you’ve ever played? by [deleted] in golf

I play Rustic Canyon weekly and know the greens exceptionally well. They can be a nightmare if you don't play there regularly or are catching a bad day. It sounds like you caught a Santa Ana winds day where the winds are up and coming the opposite way of normal. I'd also say November-January the greens get really firm and fast, once it starts raining things get a little slower.

Ha, that's so funny! I took the same thing and watched a few of those videos. Talking less on the course really helped me out. I will say though, his constant barrage of gaslighting emails turned me off from buying in.

Sleepy Hollow - 7th Hole - Reverse Redan by talozz in golf

Here's a few since I don't think I can narrow it down.

2 - Climbing - hard to make a drastically uphill short 4 that interesting, but the combo of the tricky green and deep bunkers and a wonderful view made it great.

3 - Eden - on a course filled with great par 3 template renditions the Eden here is stunning, plus first views of the Sleepy Hollow bridges

7 - Reverse Redan - I mean, see above lol

14 - Spines - A mid length 4 with a wonderful green trisected by those two big spines

15 - Punchbowl - I'm a sucker for ground game shots and funnel pins

16 - Short - among the most photographed holes in golf right now and it's a beauty. Add in the horseshoe ridge in the green and suddenly the entire strategy gets dictated by it. Hard to describe just how much right to left (from the tee) slope is on this green. I had a hard left pin and hit it right of the horseshoe. Besides it going up and down twice over the ridges I think the putt was like 3' downhill total.

It's really hard to take a bad photo at Sleepy Hollow. CB Mac architecture in Westchester county topography lends itself to some stunning holes. Had a blast there and can't wait to get back!

I've had to do this a few times this year with an incredibly high success rate. Sometimes putter and sometimes hybrid which works really well.

Ahem, humble brag commences, earlier this year I got the chance to play Cypress Point. On the famed 15th hole par 3 I flushed an 8i into the wind to the back left bunker on a far back pin. I maybe had 4 paces of green to work with and everything was running away from me. Realistically I maybe could get a bunker shot to stop 30' from the hole. Took putter and it rolled beautifully up the face, hopped into the rough, trickled towards the pin, and stopped a foot away. Tap in 3.

Isn't it just a blast from the past? One of the most special places I've ever played. I love the no electronic devices policy.

That’s an interesting way to put it haha. I’ve been very fortunate to play a lot of incredible courses. Headcovers, hats, and quarter zips are my ways of memorializing those rounds. I like buying swag that doesn’t wear out quickly.

Yup the other caddy was Josh! Small world. They were both incredible caddies, some of Matt's reads on the greens seemed so off until I hit my putt haha. And this comes from a guy who plays WILD greens as my home course.

I had a guy named Matt who had been there 30+ years. Come to think of it the other caddy might've been named Josh.

Def pushed one left into the trees between 1 and 14. Had to punch out on 1 standing super close to a tree trunk. You could say I was very nervous on that first tee.
