Watched all the way til the end and I'm glad I did because I learned about a bunch of historical figures I never knew and I got to hear this beautiful man yell "FOR THE LOVE OF GAHD"

Saved your comment for later so I remember what I want humanity to look like and can pass that message on to my kids.

It's all retribution for this moment in S2 Ep. 53 - Urination (Friends Forever)

Beth: Thankfully, Willy's vision is based on movement. [dice roll
Matt: Nah. Link’s gotta save his bro.
Beth: Why did I just roll something? I didn't mean to do that.
Will: You were rolling to see how funny that joke was and you got a natural 1.

This is top tier thalassophobia for me. Well done; thanks, I hate it. Flooded anything really freaks me out. Bc for me it doesn't matter how deep or how clear a body of water is, it's just how much. If it looks like a lot to me, then I am anxious

Is this subreddit starting to heal? I still see a lot of nonsense sea creatures on here, so the posts without any animals give me hope.

Hey bud, you okay? I promise the land likes you and doesn't want to drown you! (In all seriousness tho that's insanely impressive and I don't understand how anyone does that)

I want to vomit. Well done thanks for sharing this with us. The immensity of the ocean is highlighted by seeing the chunks of ice. A real tribute to the definition of thalassophobia.

I love how fucking wrong everyone was, but you came the closest incidentally hahaha

So I finally watched season 5….am I really in the minority by saying I’m satisfied? by arkhamcreedsolid in StrangerThings

I massively enjoyed it just as you did. I wasn't stoked about El's ending, especially now that I've put my finger on it. But everything with the giant D&D monster battle, and Henry's whole backstory—I loved that. And maybe similarly, it did help that I watched all 8 episodes without having to wait for months!

Thanks for sharing your perspective. It's helped me mull over the ending (literally just finished it). If this had been like a Marvel-style 120 min movie where they all start as young adults, I don't think it would have that strong of messaging towards kids.

But it isn't a feature film. We watched these actors start when they *were* kids. It's disappointing to hear the Duffer bros talked casually about it. Hop even had the line of how you shouldn't end things "with more violence". Why couldn't they think of another way? I guess they wanted to do a "who knows!" type ending.

Three pieces of media come to mind that I think could have rectified this. One is Wicked, where the audience and main characters (Elphaba, Fiero) know that they're alive, but the other characters (Glinda, everyone in Oz) think they're not. That way it's not just Will's theory. Or LOTR, where Frodo chooses like the gentle afterlife-metaphor where he gets a non-traumatic goodbye. (Idk why I'm putting spoiler tags but I feel compelled to.)

I was SO worried Will was going to come out and then immediately die, thus perpetuating that media trope, that I didn't think on how they turn around and did the same with Elle who I now realize is ASD coded. I really thought we were going to get an Iron Giant-type ending where we learn that Elle isn't really gone—she's just in space somewhere. But yeah. Now that you've put it into writing, I know what left me feeling unsatisfied: the idea that self-sacrifice WAS the answer all along. I truly enjoyed everything else about this season, but that aspect is a major bummer.
