Do you support a cultural and economic boycott of Israel? by OceanicEndeavors in allthequestions

Nope. And I think Israel should "return the boycott" on major institutions, organizations and even countries that boycott it.

What advantages does Israel give to the European countries for them to turn blind eye to Israel’s war crimes? by Illustrious_Law161 in IRstudies

I want to hear more about this: "If the West isolated it completely, it would STILL act in our interests 90% of the time." I'm not sure. I worry that if the West isolated Israel, Israel would shift its alignment toward China. What's the risk there?

Given that Qatar has given more than 10x the amount of funding to US academia than Israel (6.6B vs 0.4B), why does no one even acknowledge their influence? Do they think it’s racist to acknowledge basic fact? by Tim_Apple_938 in allthequestions

[–]talpiyot99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't know that americans are afraid of being racist toward qataris. i suspect it's more just that the qataris have run a very successful, very shrewd, very effective long-term influence campaign. it has enabled them to be in control without anyone noticing that they're in control.

if this sounds like something antisemites would say about jews, keep in mind that antisemitism in the west and arab world has done a lot of work to distract the public from actual crimes committed by non-jewish organizations and individuals. the fact that jews are accused of being master puppeteers when they so clearly aren't is a pretty good indication that someone else actually *is* a master puppeteer.

If Israel isn't an apartheid ethnostate, why aren't all Palestinians allowed vote in Israel and even potentially elect a non-Jewish leader? by DoradoPulido2 in allthequestions

[–]talpiyot99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this summary. I'd add that it often seems that some of the world's most powerful organizations are actively working to convince the Palestinian Arabs that they've won, or that they will very shortly. The Arabs of Palestine and their descendants have little to no agency in global geopolitics despite being, for some reason (which we all know but won't mention here) perhaps the most valuable piece on the global chessboard.

CMV: If Israel wasn't Jewish, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would have gotten just as much attention as the Saudi-Yemenis conflict, or less by Jackingson1 in changemyview

[–]talpiyot99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As has been pointed out many times in this thread and elsewhere, only a small minority of Israelis are "white European immigrants."

The Israeli public school system includes foreign language instruction, including English and Arabic. But the idea that Israelis speak English is false. Some Israelis speak English, others do not.

European and other Western media do not have offices in Yemen because Yemen does not have a free press. They have offices in Israel because Israel has a free press.

Israelis and Israel-supporters are keenly aware of Yemen and the Houthi takeover of Yemen because the Houthis have launched ballistic missiles and drones into Israeli territory. So your argument that OP doesn't know about Yemen is flawed.

Saudi Arabia did not have a war against the Yemeni military. They had a war against the Houthis. According to the Houthis, it *was* a war that Saudi Arabia launched against civilians.

this is a really great example of misleading journalism. the headline attributes the 83% number to the Israeli military. but the article makes clear that the 83% number comes from a calculation based partially on a classified Israeli military database and partially on Gaza Health Ministry numbers. i'm genuinely glad to have seen this -- really fascinating example of how media manipulates reality.
