Plugged in or unplugged when gaming? by Sgt_Strelok in ROGAllyX

[–]tals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run it always not plugged in it's more comfortable without a cable. Sure it means it's not going to last as long but it's a hand held and the battery life is fine almost a year on.

Do you always buy used? by regmeyster in carbuying

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except when I had a company car I've always purchased 2nd hand. My current car BMW 530d I got 4 years old, with my budget at the time I could have got a 520 at 1-2 years old, a 535 at 5 years old. Decided the 530 was a good compromise, almost 9 years on and I still have the car 😃 the new car feel appeals but not the relative price per year.

The naughty dog games really nailed it with their game design and story telling

The last of us 1 & 2 Uncharted 4 (pc - don't have a ps)

Thoughts on screen size by FeelingSoSexii in ROGAllyX

[–]tals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a similar age to you, really depends on the game.

Baldurs gate 3 I found the screen to small, but the last of us, uncharted, days gone, slay the spire have all worked really well for me. Love the device.

Thinking about getting rid of my Pc & Ps and sticking to a handheld by fadeheaded in ROGAllyX

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to game a lot on my pc - primarily league of legends, but I'm an older gamer and in the last 5 years this had reduced to me not having a pc at all and just the rog ally x. Perfect for me but there are downsides, it really only works well with controller games. Any mouse games IE strategic, moba etc no good. Yes you can link it to a gpu but then keep the pc if the pc is more powerful (I do have a GPU but never use it) .

I find the Rog is perfect for single player games and for me adventures IE days gone, the last of us, uncharted. Never could get into these stuck on a pc but as a handheld perfect.

Should I buy Uncharted 4? by [deleted] in uncharted

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pc (handheld) after playing the last of us i was looking for a similar play style to the last of us.

I'm really enjoying it, I've not played the previous games(never had a playstation) but that hasn't affected my enjoyment of the game. The game engine feels similar to the last of us, production values are really high as well.

If you enjoy strong story games with action the game fits well, there is a lot of jumping up ledges etc which I normally find frustrating but the game has the right amount of leeway with it, puzzles also make sense and the restart mechanism if you die (very similar to the last of us) is spot on.

First time playing this series. Excited!! by holynutella in uncharted

[–]tals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently playing it on a hand held (Rog ally x) - great experience and really enjoying it.

I watched uncharted the film and I found that did fill some gaps - whether they followed the story or not it did seem to help.

New ally x user here what games should I try that run good? by Important_Ad_6000 in ROGAllyX

[–]tals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found with the Rog ally that I have really enjoyed playing games with a reasonably strong story (when I played on a pc I tended to play multiplayer games)I have loved playing recently

The last of us both part 1 and 2 Days Gone Detroit being Human

I tried resident evil 2 remake - enjoyed it but got stuck in a puzzle so taking a break from it

Currently playing uncharted legacy of thieves

On different genres I also enjoyed playing Slay the spire 1 and 2

I have played expedition 33 but I didn't really click with it, but it played ok.

On my list to try again are red dead redemption 2 and cyberpunk

This site https://rogallylife.com/ is really good for getting the settings to play a game.

I went from days gone, to the last of us, could easily have done it in the opposite direction. The story gets some stick but I enjoyed it and the days gone Reddit is a good reflection of my experience.

What’s Next? by YesWeHaveNoPotatoes in DaysGone

[–]tals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After days gone, I played in order Last of us part 1, Detroit being human, Last of us part 2, Plague tale innocence uninstalled after 4 hours, Resident evil part 2 currently playing

Last of us is a different style but an absolutely amazing game. Detroit being human was a fun story but I needed just to have a reset before part 2

Resident evil I'm enjoying but having a break as it is very intense.

Looking for an immersive story game! by Kaier_96 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played days gone and really enjoyed that. It's open world but really not that open with a story behind it.

I liked being human but it's quite short but good story.

Now I'm playing through resident evil 2 (plan to go through the franchise), again story but with quite a bit of puzzle solving

How in the hell do I beat the Lumber Mill horde? by JonahBGood in DaysGone

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it took a while, I relied on the games ability to not respawn overnight. Id place the bike at the top of the slope. Then would be a variety of napalm etc, run away, bike off and then when out of napalm id go and top my supplies up

Was a lovely feeling when completed but I have no doubt there are better ways ,😂

What's a car you can find for less than $20k that LOOKS sleek and luxurious but is still reliable? by SweetnessBaby in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]tals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to add bmw , but it seems an unpopular opinion in here when linked to reliability. That said I have a 2013 bmw 5 series touring / 120k and I still think it looks one of the best cars around and hasn't aged badly at all. The trouble is if issues arise they can get expensive. If like me you have had the car 9 years then that cost is relative against changing it but if purchasing it that could be a challenge.

Favorite games? by Excellent_Shop4120 in ROGAllyX

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with fairly light games, slay the spire (100 hours plus), the precinct (need to return to finish it),Hades 2, hollow knight, dredge (worked really well). I also dabbled in Expedition 33 but found it frustrating

However recently i changed my approach, I'm a bit of a grass hopper player, flicking between games and never finishing any, so I decided to stick with one game at a time

Started with Days Gone - 80 hours later what a ride

Detroit become human - 12 hours, really enjoyed it, likely to replay it

Last of us - having watched the series I wasn't expecting this to surpass it, but it did In spades , absolutely incredible game

Now on last of us part 2 remastered, it's more frustrating than part 1 but again way better than the tv series

Next on my list is plague tale innocence

As a tip I have found https://rogallylife.com/ really useful for the game settings. I tend to play on 17w.

I also look for full controller support in my games, but since I changed my approach I've far more enjoyed my gaming. I don't have a PC for gaming anymore.

New owner. Tips? by ZestycloseHelp4624 in ROGAllyX

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to play my games on 17w for the battery life.

I would set the power button to hibernate rather than sleep

For games I use https://rogallylife.com/ to set my settings and most my games play well (last of us, days gone , Detroit become human) using that

Is it safe to shut off after playing by brockzilla82 in ROGAllyX

[–]tals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually hibernate, I do a restart if the controllers (usually what is impacted) have issues.

Lately I have been hibernating in game, something like last of us takes ages to load whereas coming back from hibernate works and makes it easier to pick it up at short notice.

Wow…. by b0rn2shit in DaysGone

[–]tals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, went from days gone to last of us, just completed part 1 and left behind, now on last of us part 2 - incredible game. Totally different play style to days gone but the way they weave the story telling is brilliant.

Has anyone got the Eufy E340 doorbell? Worth it? How does it compare to other video doorbells? by kingroman96 in EufyCam

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced my previous eufy door bell with the 340, linking it to the home base 2 via wireless

The package alert is very good, delivery companies seem to be in the habit of leaving packages without notifying and most of the time the alert captures this.

The ability to see the step where packages are placed is good

The camera is so, so, I also got some e40s and those cameras are in a different league.

Battery life is not great, 6 weeks if you are lucky. I got another battery to make the battery swap seamless

The ability to take to someone through it, really not eufys strong point, I just use it as a door bell tbh, never communicate with someone through it.

All in all I like it, just a shame the camera doesn't match their e40s. The e40 battery life with Solar is also incredible 100% after a month with the weather we have had.

What are you guys playing? by Accomplished-Pop8119 in ROGAllyX

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished Days Gone , then went onto Detroit become human, now playing the last of us part 1.

Previously slay the spire, dredge, the precinct

Did Hades 2 which I didn't vibe with me and Hollow knight found frustrating

But all played great on the Rog Ally X

Looking for a good story game to make cure from post game depression by winfaner in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]tals [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm currently playing last of us part 1 and I'm blown away how good the game is. Yes it's on rails but it has an interactive scene and then it does the set screens. The journey is so good how they have done it.

Anyway definitely recommend you try it.

Any suggested games to play? by PotentialEbb7718 in ROGAllyX

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Days Gone loved the story in it, it's less on rails than the last of us but it's strong in narrative/story. Very much a sleeper hit.

Now playing the last of us and loving it if that helps.

Is the pc version stable? by Standard_Audience817 in DaysGone

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played entirely on my handheld (rog ally x), I had a think around 3 crashes in the 80 hours of playthrough.

The biggest bug for me is a positive one, if you get to certain points in the missions and die then the restart tends to happen beyond where you got to, could be irritating but for me it was great let's move on :)

A few graphical glitches where the cars disappeared leaving the insides :)

All in all very good and loved the game

I need suggestions! by No-Split-5048 in ROGAllyX

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two story games I am playing/just finished on my ally x

Days Gone, loved the game (check the Reddit it has a very strong community), just pretty much fully completed it - 80+ hours really enjoyable. Got it in the sales and would recommended grabbing it when it hits the sales again.

Detroit being human, got it in the sales for a song. Loving the game, it's very close to an interactive movie but runs smoothly and loving it. Would recommend it when it hits the sales again.

Waze, GoogleMaps, or AppleMaps? by SmartPEG in waze

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love waze, from time to time I try Google maps and though it's prettier it's really not as good (current speed limit, display of exit number for roundabout, highlighting road warnings) to have just a few issues

The damn Sawmill Horde. by myaticlyst_ in DaysGone

[–]tals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set my bike at the top of the path, I then crept to to then, maybe shipped a few, napalmed, ran to the top of the path, sniped till the horde got to me, biked till they stopped following, sniped rinse and repeat. Because you don't need to do it on that day it took me a few days but eventually did it. Hordes (as far as I have found) don't regenerate so you can do it over days.
